Producer Jeffrey Finn announced today that OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet, will have its first-ever Broadway production as part of the 2009-2010 Broadway Season. Starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes, the play is a gripping account of a power struggle between a male university professor and one of his female students.

Lawrence Edelson, Producing Artistic Director of ALT, has announced that the company has commissioned The Golden Ticket, a new opera based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In his announcement, Edelson explained that all of Dahl's beloved characters find a unique voice in this exciting new opera. 'If thoughts of Augustus Gloop being swept away in the Chocolate River, Violet Beauregarde inflating like a giant blueberry, Mike Teavee being demagnified into the tele-dimension, and Veruca Salt being thrown down the rubbish shoot by a gang of nut-inspecting squirrels sound like your idea of a fun night at the opera - or better yet, unlike any night at the opera or theater you've ever experienced - The Golden Ticket is....just the ticket!'

Dann Byck Jr., Broadway & Film Producer Dead at 72

Broadway and film producer Dann Conrad Byck Jr., who stepped down from his family retail business to pursue his lifelong passion for theater, died Tuesday at the Louisville home of his daughter, Amy Byck. He was 72.

Josh Charles will appear as Jim, the gentleman caller in The Long Wharf Theater's production of Tennessee Williams' THE GLASS MENAGERIE. The show will be directed by Gordon Edelstein run from May 13-June 7. Charles previously appeared at The Long Wharf during the 1983-84 season in 'A Dance Lesson' which was also directed by Edelstein.

Trumpet of the Swan: A Novel Symphony is part of a season-long initiative Broadway: The Third Generation, celebrating the current generation of Broadway musical composers, and will appear for five performances in the Eisenhower Theater December 4-6, 2008. The theatrical adaptation is recommended for audiences aged seven and up.
