SAN FRANCISCO, July 24,2013 - Originally built in 1928, Kimpton's Sir Francis Drake unveils the completion of its multi-million dollar renovation during its 85 th anniversary. The iconic boutique hotel sits 21 stories high in the heart of the city, mere steps from Union Square. The completed renovation features a sophisticated and opulent modern design that perfectly complements the historic spirit and original Gothic Revival and Regency architecture of the hotel. All popular public spaces, including the famed Starlight Room; 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space; and 416 guest rooms and suites have been completely redesigned by Dawson Design Associates. The 'new' Sir Francis Drake is characterized by regal architecture and sophisticated style, allowing for a refined feeling of comfort and an elegant sense of modernity, referencing both its 1920s roots and the needs of its contemporary guests.

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch has announced the company's 2013-2014 season. Eight new works enter Houston Ballet's repertoire, including world premieres by James Kudelka, Garrett Smith and Melissa Hough in September 2013; the North American premiere of David Bintley's Aladdin in February 2014; company premieres of Jiri Kylian's Sechs Tanze, Christopher Bruce's Intimate Pages and Stanton Welch's Of Blessed Memory as well as a world premiere A Young Person's Guide to Orchestra by Mr. Welch in March 2014.

Broadway's Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street), just celebrated its 100th Anniversary yesterday, December 20th. The theatre, which opened on December 20, 1912 with a Peg O'My Heart starring Laurette Taylor, is currently home to the Broadway Premiere of Grace, which will end its limited engagement on January 6, 2013. It will next be home to the World Premiere production of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, a new play written by Richard Greenberg, which starts performances on Monday, March 4 and opens on Wednesday, March 20. A.C.T. MFA Program to Present THE WILD PARTY, NIAGARA FALLS in December

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Conservatory Director Melissa Smithannounced today that the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program will present Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party, taking audiences back in time, capturing the edginess and excitement of the roaring '20s. With a book, music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, the production is directed by Mark Rucker and will play a limited four show engagement. Performances are: December 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m.; December 15 at 2 & 7:30 p.m. All performances take place at A.C.T.'s Costume Shop (1117 Market Street, San Francisco). According to an Equity Audition notice, the Steppenwolf's production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf will begin previews on Broadway on September 27, 2012 in anticipation of its previously announced October 13, 2012 opening at a Shubert Theatre to be announced.
