?Due to popular demand, A Red Orchid Theatre has extended its critically-acclaimed production of Tennessee Williams' The Mutilated, directed by Ensemble Member Dado. The Mutilated will now run through March 13, 2016. In celebration of Carnegie Hall's 125th anniversary, the Weill Music Institute (WMI) has launched The Somewhere Project, a citywide exploration of West Side Story. This extensive creative learning project is engaging people through events in all five boroughs of New York City, plus those outside the city through online content, all anchored by a large-scale production of West Side Story, the classic American musical based on a conception by Jerome Robbins, with music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents.
The Kennedy Center today announced a robust schedule of 2015-2016 performances as part of Comedy at the Kennedy Center, the largest since the new series was established in the 2014-2015 season. Comedy at the Kennedy Center will include three signature events in the Concert Hall, featuring nationally renowned comedic acts, and the Center's first District of Comedy Festival from June 22-25, showcasing an array of celebrated comedians who will be performing on stages across the building. The District of Comedy Festival will also launch a newly-engaged collaboration with Chicago's legendary comedy theater, The Second City, featuring a Kennedy Center commission that focuses on the history of the United States, which will run for six weeks in the Theater Lab. The complete cast and creative team have been announced for The Old Globe production of William Shakespeare's delightful and romantic Twelfth Night. Rebecca Taichman, whose production of the time-traveling Time and the Conways fascinated audiences last April, is back to direct the first show of the 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Old Globe engagement will begin performances on June 21 and run through July 26, 2015, with opening night on Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m., in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.
