Proof, the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by American playwright David Auburn will be presented for 8 performances only at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street - between Lafayette & Bowery). Produced by an ensemble of independent New York actors and artists, performances will begin on Thursday, February 21st and continue through Sunday, March 3rd.

Manhattan Theatre Club announces the guests for the upcoming Sloan panel discussing Sharr White's The Other Place. The panel will focus on the role of science in the play and will feature novelist Stefan Merrill Block, author of The Story of Forgetting; playwright Sharr White; neuroscientist Heather Berlin; and genetic counselor Jill Goldman. The panel will be moderated by NPR's Robert Krulwich. The panel will follow the 2 PM matinee performance today, January 27 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

The Broadhurst Theatre box office opens tomorrow, Friday, January 25 at 10:00 AM for LUCKY GUY, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, in the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Beth Henley's 100-proof comedy THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST, starring film and television actress Amber Tamblyn and directed by Tony Award winner Judith Ivey, will bow on Broadway in the spring of 2013. THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST marks Ms. Tamblyn's Broadway debut and Ms. Ivey's Broadway debut as director, and is produced by HOP Theatricals. Broadway theater and dates to be announced.

The final production of the current season, Hatchetman, takes place May 11-27.

Founded in 1979 by its artistic director Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience is a modern classical theatre that produces Shakespeare alongside other major authors in a dialogue that spans centuries. Its 33rd season, the last before moving to its first home adjacent to BAM in the new Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District, features boldly diverse works from William Shakespeare, Franz Kafka in a theatrical adaptation by Colin Teevan, Samuel Beckett and Wallace Shawn. In a co-production with The Public Theater, Mr. Shawn's plays will be part of The Wallace Shaw-Andre Gregory Project.

In Piper Plays: Smart Plays for Young Actors Playwriting Festival and Compeition, Piper Theatre and Piper Plays will present 9 new one-act plays that explore the world of children. The festival, Smart Plays for Young Actors, is the culmination of a nationwide playwriting contest and runs today, June 15 and June 16 and 17, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the BAX Brooklyn Arts Exchange (421 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY). The plays presented have been chosen from over 100 entrants from throughout the United States and Canada. All of the presented plays will be either New York or world premieres.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, David Mamet's 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross is heading back to Broadway, this time starring Al Pacino as leading man, 'Shelly "The Machine" Levene.' Pacino previously played 'Richard Roma' the the 1992 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Daniel Sullivan is attached to direct the project. The New York Times has confirmed that the show will begin previews on October 16 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater. Opening night is set for November 11.

West Palm Beach's only resident professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, concludes its spring season with David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Proof" on Friday, May 25th (8PM) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre(201 Clematis Street). Special priced preview performances are slated for May 23rd & 24th with regularly scheduled curtain times through June 17th.
