Epic Theatre Ensemble returns off-Broadway with the world premiere of The Winning Side, a new play by James Wallert

Up next at Epic Theatre Ensemble is the world premiere of The Winning Side, a new play by James Wallert. Based on the true story of Wernher von Braun, Chief Rocket Engineer for the Third Reich and one of the fathers of the United States space program, The Winning Side explores the hidden history behind America's 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.

An American icon comes home.  During the early years of his career, American composer, conductor and arranger Henry Mancini and his family lived not far from where California State University, Northridge campus now stands.  On Saturday, October 13 at 8pm, Mancini's music comes home to Northridge as The Soraya presents Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini.  Starring Monica Mancini with special guest three-time Tony nominated Joshua Henry, Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini features Gregg Field as Music Director and Chris Walden conducting the New West Symphony.

McCarter is proud to welcome a group of esteemed and emerging playwrights and theater artists to Princeton for the Sallie B. Goodman Artists' Retreat. The annual Retreat in June is a centerpiece of McCarter's LAB, a platform and creative incubator devoted to ongoing theatrical development and artist cultivation. The 2018 Retreat will take place from June 6 - June 13.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. The Marie-Josee Kravis Composer-in-Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen will conduct a program featuring an emerging composer and soloist, both of whom the Philharmonic has championed: the World Premiere of Kravis Emerging Composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Metacosmos, commissioned by the Philharmonic; Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, Eroica; and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3, featuring Benjamin Grosvenor, inaugural recipient of the Ronnie and Lawrence Ackman Classical Piano Prize at the New York Philharmonic, in his Philharmonic subscription debut. The performances take place Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.; and Friday, April 6 at 8:00 p.m.

Ken Ludwig is a two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright whose work is performed throughout the world in more than thirty countries and over twenty languages. He has written twenty-five plays and musicals, with six Broadway productions and seven in London's West End. I learned about his incredible way with comedic farce when I saw his first Broadway play, Lend Me A Tenor, which won two Tony Awards and was called 'one of the classic comedies of the 20th century" by The Washington Post. So when I heard the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica was presenting Ludwig's MOON OVER BUFFALO, one of his other comedic farces I had never seen before, I knew I was in for a treat watching all the missed communications, mistaken identities, secrets, and lies collide hilariously backstage. And I was not disappointed.

Loading Dock Theatre has announced that its groundbreaking solo theater piece Spaceman, which was recently announced as a selection of the Exponential Theater Festival, will make its Off-Broadway debut at The Wild Project (located at 195 East 3rd Street, between Avenues A and B) beginning February 22, 2018.

Building on the critical success of his 2011 production of Harold Pinter's Old Times, STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn will return to the British playwright's gripping realm of doubt and disquiet to direct a double bill of short plays. The Lover and The Collection will run from September 26-October 29 at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW).

Unique portraits of many Broadway and jazz musical legends will be featured at highly respected British drummer and artist Gilson Lavis' first ever New York City art exhibit 'Gilson Lavis: In Tune With The Portraits' at the Salomon Arts Gallery at 83 Leonard Street in Tribeca from September 15th through October 5th, 2017. Florida Theatrical Association presents the world premiere of JOYCE JACKSON'S GUIDE TO DATING August 4-14 at The Abbey. The musical parodies a dating book from the 1950's of the same name. FTA produced a staged reading of the musical last Fall as part of their New Musical Discovery Series.
