A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS by Robert Bolt started out as a radio drama for BBC Radio in 1954. It was adapted into an hour-long live television version in 1957 and finally was reworked by Bolt for the stage in 1960. After success on the West End and on Broadway, it was subsequently made into an Academy Award winning 1966 film and a 1988 television movie. The title refers to Bolt's portrayal of More as the ultimate man of conscience remaining true to his beliefs while adapting to increasingly horrific circumstances. Pacific Symphony Launches 2016 American Composers Festival Today
by BWW News Desk - Feb 4, 2016

have been and where we are going? Or how certain kinds of music fit into this diverse universe of sound? These are some of the important questions that music raises, and each year, Pacific Symphony, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, attempts to shed light on the answers by exploring a different facet of American music through the American Composers Festival (ACF). This year's ACF spotlights organ music through four highly acclaimed organists and the splendor of the king of instruments-in this case, the one-of-a-kind William J. Gillespie Concert Organ, located in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Built from steel, tin, oak, poplar, maple, lead and carbon fiber, the astounding instrument found in the Symphony's concert hall required three years and 42,000 hours of labor by a team of organ builders at C.B Fisk in Gloucester, Mass., before making its debut with Pacific Symphony in 2008.

A British Invasion: Stars Cross the Pond to Light Up Broadway This Fall!
by Nicole Rosky - Oct 25, 2015

'[Thank you] to an incredible cast of British and American actors who make the Atlantic look like a little creek you can just kind of pop across,' said Dame Helen Mirren upon receiving her 2015 Tony Award. The stage and screen star reprised her critically-acclaimed performance in THE AUDIENCE after a West End run in 2013, and she was just one of many to 'pop across' an ocean for a stab at Broadway.  An unprecedented amount of British talent took over Broadway last year, bringing us such productions as THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, WOLF HALL: PARTS 1 & 2, and SKYLIGHT.   It doesn't seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. This fall, Broadway will welcome a slew of British actors- some of whom will be making their US stage debuts in incoming productions. And it's not just performers. We're getting some complete British imports in shows like A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE and KING CHARLES III. Below, we're taking a moment to shine a spotlight on this season's British imports.

ART/WNY to Present CARRIE, THE MUSICAL
by Tyler Peterson - Sep 10, 2015

Kicking off the 2015-16 season and the company's ninth season is the cult-classic novel made into a cult-classic film made into a cult-classic musical theater piece as American Repertory Theater of WNY presents CARRIE, THE MUSICAL. From the mind of Stephen King to the film directorial eyes of Brian DePalma to the musical creativity of Michael Gore, this is an ugly ducking turn prom queen who sees this dream turn into a 'night we'll never forget' story.

BWW Review: Clandestine's CARRIE THE MUSICAL is Ambitious Disappointment
by Matt Tamanini - Aug 27, 2015

There is something noble about earnestly attempting to do good, despite the overwhelming evidence that what you are embarking upon is almost certainly doomed to disappoint. Not only is that sentiment at the center of CARRIE THE MUSICAL, which Clandestine Arts is premiering in Central Florida through August 30th at the ME Theatre, but it also accurately describes the undertaking of performing this infamous piece of musical theatre history. Like Carrie's senior prom, unless everything goes unbelievably perfectly, the musical is likely going to be a substantial let-down. While Clandestine has put together an impressively talented group of young performers, especially in the show's four leads, the uneven and sloppy production undermines whatever power the piece might otherwise have had.
