Enjoy Cinematic Entertainment Under the Stars this August at Seattle Center MOVIES AT THE MURAL

What better way to spend a warm summer evening then to stretch out on the green grass of Mural Amphitheatre and enjoy fun, free cinematic entertainment. You'll find it every Saturday beginning July 29 at Seattle Center Movies at the Mural.

This family-friendly film series begins continues at dusk on Saturdays through August 26. Offering big screen drama, adventure and suspense on a state-of-the-art 45-foot screen, Movies at the Mural presents The Princess Bride, Mad Max: Fury Road, Galaxy Quest, West Side Story and Life of Pi.

Here are the details:

July 29: The Princess Bride (30th Anniversary screening)

Rated PG - Run Time: 1 hour 38 minutes

This beloved 1987 classic - and a popular Movies at the Mural staple - blends comedy, adventure, romance and fantasy. Follow peasant farmhand Westley as he battles three bumbling outlaws and a nefarious prince to win the hand of his one true love, a young woman named Buttercup.

August 5: La La Land

Rated PG-13 - Run Time: 2 hours 8 mins

In this original musical, set in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts, Mia, an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian, a jazz musician, scrapes by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.

August 12: Hidden Figures

Rated PG - Run Time: 2 hours 7 minutes

As the United States raced against Russia to put a man in space, NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history. Based on an unbelievable true life story, follow these "human computers" as they quickly rise through the ranks of NASA, tasked with helping to calculate the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

August 19: Clue

Rated PG - Run Time: 1 hour 34 minutes

A group finds itself tangled in a web of murder, lies, and hilarity when six guests, a butler and a maid all meet at Hill House. Subplots, personal entanglements, affairs, blackmail and more create an entertaining, zany whodunit.

August 26: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rated PG-13 - Run Time: 2 hours 13 minutes

Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen is now the Empire's lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, a vengeful Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station's plans for the Rebel Alliance. The future of the entire galaxy now rests upon its success.

A Movies at the Mural bonus this year, short films created by students at Cornish College for the Arts precede each of the Saturday movies.

Seating at Movies at the Mural is first-come, first-served, so arrive early, spread out a blanket on the Mural Amphitheatre lawn, bring along a picnic or purchase dinner from a selection of Seattle Center Armory food merchants. Low back chairs, blankets and bean bags are recommended. Large bags, large coolers/ice chests, umbrellas and video and audio recorders are not allowed. Please leave pets at home.

The community gathers for free movies shown under the stars on a 45-foot screen at the Mural Amphitheatre on five weekend evenings in August.
