Review: THE WIZARD OF OZ at Hale Centre Theatre

by Cheyenne Lewis — May 19, 2026

Nearly 90 years after the film premiered and over 120 years since the novel was published, this great American fairytale is a story to love. This rendition of the musical is great for people both young and old. There’s no place to see THE WIZARD OF OZ like Hale Centre Theatre.

by Sabrina Wallace — May 14, 2026

The Wiz at Bass Concert Hall delivers dazzling visuals, standout performances, and plenty of personality. by Cybele Pomeroy — Apr 21, 2026

The WIZARD OF OZ is familiar to so many after all this time (and so many versions, including the Disney alternate universe ‘Wicked’ franchise) that one might be forgiven for thinking that no version is capable of any surprises anymore. AND YET. I am delighted to report that in this production lovingly done by Toby’s, there are delightful, unexpected moments, including puppetry and a surprising dance number, plus The Jitterbug.
