As part of its autumn season, Tangram Theatre will be bringing the heart-lifting TEAM VIKING to the Tron Theatre, written & performed by James Rowland and directed by Daniel Goldman, on Wednesday 20 & Thursday 21 September 2017.

Combining storytelling, comedy and live music (played by Rowland), TEAM VIKING won the Vaults Festival Origins Award and was a runaway hit at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival.

Following James's dad's death, James and his two best friends Tom and Sarah make a drunken pact that, whenever one of them has to go, they'll have a full Viking funeral complete with fire, ships and water. Sooner than expected, the friends find themselves trying to fulfil this pact after James's best friend is diagnosed with heart cancer... Five years on, this is the remarkable, hilarious and touching story of how James overcame obstacles to actually gave his best mate the send-off he wanted.

James Rowland's gentle and warm one-man storytelling is often sad, often funny and even comical, yet this compelling tale of friendship, mourning and terminal illness is always incredibly moving. TEAM VIKING makes for a poignant, enjoyable and, ultimately, uplifting evening. Set in the same universe as TEAM VIKING, A HUNDRED DIFFERENT WORDS FOR LOVE won Show of the Year at Vault Festival, London and recently finished a successful run at Summerhall as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The Tron Theatre is located at 63 Trongate, Glasgow G1 5HB. For tickets (£11 - £15), contact the box office at 0141 552 4267 or go online at www.tron.co.uk.
