EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Luke Kempner

Tell us a bit about Take A Long Hard Luke At Yourself.

Well it's a different type of show for me. It's got all my usual impressions and some new ones as well. You'll see Donald Trump teach someone how to be him. You'll see Bear Grylls take Andy Murray, Lord Attenborough and Sandi Toksvig on Bears Big Bear Hunt. You'll also hear some stories about my journey to becoming an impressionist. Why Batman became Batman if you like, except I don't save the city from the underworld, I do silly voices.

What have you been up to since last year?

It's been an insane year. I have filmed the 3rd series of Murder In Successville, recorded 3 more series of The Now Show on radio 4, carried on making fun of the Big Brother Housemates as the resident comedian on Big Brother's Bit On The Side, filmed a new gameshow for BBC1 and i have just filmed a brand new series for Channel 4 called Host The Week. It's been a busy and exciting year.

Do you have a favourite impression to do?

I love love doing Alan Carr and Andy Murray but this year I have really enjoyed becoming Donald Trump... that's awful isn't it? He is just the gift that keeps on giving. He might be ruining a country but has given me some great comedy.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Anyone! I've been nicknamed 'Teatime Kempner' by Tom Davis, so it has that sort of feel. There's a couple of swear words here and there but who wouldn't want to hear Lord Attenbourgh have a little ef and jeff?!

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

YES. So many. My sister's show, Sooz Kempner, Sooz On Film, Steen Raskopoulos. John Robbins. Colin Hoult. Sara Pascoe. In the words of Donald Trump, it's gonna be yuuuuuuuuge.
