Review: COURTNEY ACT, Classic Grand, Glasgow

Review: COURTNEY ACT, Classic Grand, Glasgow Having left the Celebrity Big Brother house less than a week ago, tonight's show was Courtney Act's first gig since her victory win. The crowd was a mix of drag club regulars, fans of RuPaul's Drag Race and people who had recently discovered her on CBB.

While the show had more of a club atmosphere than a gig, the event was over 14's and Act was very apologetic about dropping the c-bomb three times at the beginning of her set.

The evening was a mix of songs and stories about her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother. With a nod to her fellow CBB contestant Andrew Brady, Act says that the world would be a far better place if other men were as comfortable with their sexuality as Brady, which was met with riotous applause.

The song selection was mostly upbeat with pop hits from Kylie, Sia, Lady Gaga and Madonna plus one of Act's own songs. One of the main differences between this performance and what you get at a typical post reality show public appearance is that Courtney Act is a fantastic singer. Having wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year she's no stranger to the stage and is completely at ease chatting to the crowd. The fast paced nature of the set and the well structured blend of song and comedy meant that her performance flew by.

The set itself was quite short but highly enjoyable. With her recent Celebrity Big Brother win and upcoming summer tour of the UK, it is unlikely that we'll see her in such an intimate setting again.

Courtney Act returns to the UK on tour in June 2018.
