Teri A Hansen, Emily Walsh And Janice Zarro To Be Honored At Women's Resource Center's Renaissance Legacy Luncheon

The Women's Resource Center's 2018 Renaissance Legacy Luncheon is Tuesday, March 20, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at The Westin Sarasota, 1175 N. Gulfstream Avenue. The annual event celebrates outstanding women or "Wonder Women" in the Sarasota community. This year's Wonder Women are Teri A Hansen, president and CEO of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation; Emily Walsh, publisher of the Observer Media Group; and Janice Zarro, a lawyer, consultant, and former executive director of the Women's Resource Center. Tickets are $100 and $200 (patron), and available for purchase at MyWRC.org/Renaissance. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Florida Studio Theatre Celebrated A Modern Artistic Renaissance At SHAKESPEARE'S SHINDIG

On Monday, February 26, artists and supporters of Florida Studio Theatre flocked to the theater for its annual fundraiser, Shakespeare's Shindig: A Modern Day Renaissance. With a nod to history's greatest playwright, this year's Shakespearean-themed event celebrated the resurgence of theatre in today's society, with more people attending theatre today than at any point in modern day history. Long-time FST supporter Marie G. Kropp chaired the event, and Gulf Coast Community Foundation supported the Shindig as its lead sponsor. With live, exclusive entertainment, the presentation of the distinguished Spelman Award, a plated dinner, and merriment abounding, Shakespeare's Shindig was a not-to-be-missed event for many of the greatest patrons of the arts and contemporary theatre in Sarasota.

Asolo Rep And The FSU/Asolo Conservatory To Unveil 2018-19 Season on 3/19

Asolo Repertory Theatre and the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training will unveil their 2018-19 seasons on Monday, March 19 at 4pm at the annual Season Announcement Event. Michael Donald Edwards, Asolo Rep Producing Artistic Director, will announce Asolo Rep's 2018-19 season, which marks the theatre's 60th anniversary, and Greg Leaming, Director of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory and Associate Artistic Director of Asolo Rep, will announce the Conservatory's season.   The Season Announcement Event, held in the Mertz Theatre, is free and open to the public,  however tickets are required. Asolo Rep subscribers and donors at the Angels level or higher will receive preferred seating.

Dramatized by Jim Stowell, this moving one-man show explores morality and the ethics of war. Asolo Rep continues its record-breaking season with Lisa Loomer's ROE, a poignant new play that humanizes and examines both sides of one of the most polarizing Supreme Court cases of all time: Roe v. Wade. Asolo Rep is proud to be only the fourth theater in the country to be granted the rights to this must-see production. Directed by Lavina Jadhwani and based on the original production directed by Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Bill Rauch,  ROE previews March 14 and 15, opens March 16, and runs in rotating repertory through April 15 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Laura Benanti at David A Straz Center For The Performing Arts

Tony Award winning powerhouse Laura Benanti is scheduled to appear in her one-woman cabaret at the Straz Center in Tampa on February 11. Celebrated for her impression of Melania Trump on Stephen Colbert's Late Show, Miss Benanti played Louise in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy, winning the Tony Award, and appeared in the stage musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in 2010, winning the Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She played Baroness Elsa Schrader in the 2013 NBC television production of The Sound of Music Live! and in 2015 began playing twin sisters Alura and Astra in the TV series Supergirl. Laura is also performing with her mother, talented actress and singer Linda Benanti, in a musical celebration of family titled, Laura and Linda Benanti: The Story Goes On.
