David Mixner's OH HELL NO! Comes to LA Tonight

By:
Author, political strategist, civil rights activist and political firebrand David Mixner will bring his audience right onto his metaphorical front porch in his theatrical tell-all, "Oh Hell No!," coming to Los Angeles this month.

Once named by Newsweek as the most powerful gayman in America, Mixner is a highly regarded leader in Americanpolitics and international human rights for over 40 years.

"Oh Hell No!" gives an intimate, first-person account of his headline-grabbing life ranging from advising presidents and prime ministers to being arrested for acts of principled civil disobedience.

Joining David Mixner onstage in Los Angeles are acclaimed musicians and performers Chris Bolan, Dave Koz, Rory O'Malley and Emily Swallow.

Proceeds from the performance will benefit Point Foundation (Point), the nation's largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students of merit. Mixner and Point plan to bring hisshow to other American cities in the coming months (information at pointfoundation.org/mixnershow, and follow #MixnerOHN).

"I hope this show will inspire people to discover more about thehistory and the contributions of the LGBTQ community," said David Mixner. "People must learn of the astounding bravery, courage and dignity of so many LGBTQ individuals during the lasthalf-century, an extraordinary time in American history. I am so fortunate to be part of this community."

After seeing the sold-out New York premiere of the show, Broadway Producer and multiple Tony Award winner (including for Kinky Boots) Hal Luftig said, "David Mixner's 'Oh Hell No!' is like a vivid theatrical photograph. His story shows us where our country has been, how much has changed and how much further we have to go. It is also a riveting piece of theater. I LOVED it."

"David is a storyteller of great insight and power who reveals theinternal dynamics of history in intimate and surprising ways," said Judith Light, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and Point Foundation Honorary Board Member. "'Oh Hell No!' is a perfect vehicle to advance the intergenerational communication and learning component of Point Foundation's mission."

"David Mixner is very much the trailblazer for the kind of socialjustice focused education and advocacy that we expect of our current 80 Point Scholars and the new scholar class we will announce in June," said Jorge Valencia, Executive Director & CEO of Point Foundation. "David, like Point, is recognized for his commitment to young people's leadership development, as is illustrated by his receiving an honorary doctorate this month when he is the commencement speaker at Washington College in Maryland."

OH HELL NO! comes to Los Angeles tonight, June 11, 7 p.m., at the El Rey Theatre.
