Homecoming! Two-time Grammy® nominated Australian virtuoso guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, CGP* returns one year later to perform in concert at the historic Balboa Theatre for Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2012. His current PBS Special celebrating the release of Emmanuel's 2-disc album Little By Little on Favored Nations Entertainment was recorded live at the Balboa Theatre last February 15; and is being shown on over half the PBS stations across the country this June, with over 160 airings. Welcome back, Tommy!

Recognized as the elite of the elite and arguably the greatest living acoustic guitar player, Emmanuel has mesmerized both fellow musicians and audiences alike with a professional career that spans nearly five decades. Emmanuel's dazzling performance, flawless guitar skills and voluminous repertoire never fail to amaze and engage his legions. From the wilds of Australia's outback to the bustling major cities throughout the world, Emmanuel's flair, unforgettable showmanship and exhaustive worldwide touring schedule have created an enviable fan base that continues to grow even larger every year.

Emmanuel's unique style...he calls it simply "finger style"...is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays a piano, using all ten fingers. Rather than using a whole band for melody, rhythm, bass, and drum parts, Emmanuel plays all of that--and more--on one guitar. Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire Emmanuel to try this "fingerpicker" style as a child. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel's biggest fans.
The only non-American ever to be inducted into the National Thumbpickers' Hall of Fame in Muhlenburg, KY, he played Carnegie Hall for Les Paul's 90th birthday Tribute Concert, earned a 2006 Grammy nomination and was named the 2008 Best Acoustic Guitarist and Gold Medalist by Guitar Player Magazine and Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
