3Stages Presents THE HEART OF AN IRISHWOMAN, Beginning 3/22

By:

The Heart of an Irishwoman is described as a visual, audible and musical celebration of strength, courage, passion, great humor; the heart of Ireland and its women from ancient times to the 17th Century and on to the 20th century. "Our Irish culture matters: we come from it, we are shaped by it, we identify with it, we draw from it and we must celebrate it!" (Margaret O' Carroll, producer of Heart of an Irishwoman).

Sheelagh Cullen, one of the great Irish stage actors of today, weaves the story of the Heart from an Irish perspective ? through the writings of Yeats, Synge, Pearse, O'Casey, Merriman, Joyce and many more. Irish letters, great Irish women writings, poetry, letters, and songs make this event complete.

Dave Pier, Executive Director of Three Stages remarked that he was "especially pleased to be able to introduce The Heart of an Irishwoman to Three Stages in conjunction with Woman's History Month. This story seems perfectly timed for our audiences."

The Heart of an Irishwoman will perform at Three Stages on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 pm; Saturday, March 23 at 2 pm & 7:30 pm; Sunday, March 24 at 2 pm. Tickets are $29-$39; they may be purchased online at www.threestages.net or from Three Stages Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Three Stages is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.

A relatively recent production from Kerry Records (An Irish Christmas, An Irish Hooley!),The Heart of an Irishwoman premiered at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana in May, 2012 to rave reviews from the audience.

Appearing along with Limerick born actor Sheelagh Cullen are Dubliner Laura Solter who brings us a blockbluster 'torch' voice, straight out of the Irish ballad tradition of women singers which stretches back for centuries; Kerry-born and a former member of the Irish National Folk Theatre, Margaret O' Carroll on piano; Bulgarian virtuoso Bella Issakova on fiddle.

Kerry Records is an Irish owned Production Company based in Los Angeles. We proudly promote Ireland and its rich traditions of music, song, dance, storytelling, poetry and literature. As a recording arts label, KERRY RECORDS encourages
contemporary Irish music and the spoken arts, while supporting the performance, recording and preservation of Ireland's priceless music and spoken arts history.
