Festival51 Seeks Original Scripts for 2nd Annual Women's Playwriting Festival

Festival51, a Rhode Island-based original works play festival focused on developing works for female writers, seeks submissions for inclusion in the second annual Festival51 Women's Playwriting Festival to take place in Rhode Island during the summer of 2016. Deadline for submissions is Midnight, March 31st, 2016. All plays will be fully staged and produced by Festival51 at the AS220 Blackbox Theater in Providence (July 15-24) with additional staged readings and production at The Contemporary Theater Company in Wakefield during May and October.

All submissions for Festival 51 are subject to the following criteria and conditions:

• Scripts must be by female authors.
• All scripts must be submitted no later than Midnight, March 31, 2016 to be considered for inclusion in the Festival. Candidates will be selected by April 15th, 2016 and immediately go into casting and rehearsal.
• Running time must be between 30 and 90 minutes (any scripted intermissions will not be included).
• Plays must contain a *maximum* of 7 characters.
• Must be an original work, *not* an adaptation or translation.
• No children's plays.
• Submissions must be sent by USPS mail to: Festival51, 781 Ten Rod Road, North Kingstown, RI, 02852, c/o Terry Shea or emailed to rifestival51@gmail.com
• If mailed, scripts must be unbound.
• Scripts will not be returned.
• Each selected author will receive a stipend following contract signature and production.
