Epic Begins 2019 With THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA

In the great tradition of innovative and inspiring Epic productions of classics such as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "The Little Foxes," Epic Theatre Company is beginning a brand new year with a fresh look at an undisputed masterpiece--Federico García Lorca's "The House of Bernarda Alba" in an acclaimed new adaptation by Emily Mann, with direction by Carol Schlink, and featuring Michelle L. Walker as Bernarda.

"Bernarda has been on our collective wish list for awhile," says Epic Artistic Director Kevin Broccoli, "Finding this brilliant new look at the play by Emily Mann really sealed the deal for us. We're committed to bringing classical work to the stage that's sometimes overlooked, and this is a play that should be done as often as Shakespeare. Bernarda is one of the great, tragic theatrical heroines, and we're so excited to see it brought to life by this incredible all-female cast and with the brilliant Carol Schlink making her Epic directorial debut."

The play takes place in a small village right after the death of Bernarda's husband. After the funeral, Bernarda announces to her five daughters that they will mourn for eight years in total solitude. Little does she know that a man from town has captured the hearts of more than one of her daughters, and the resulting passion in the face of oppression leads to an unforgettable climax that will change Bernarda's family forever.

"The House of Bernarda Alba" runs January 11th - 26th at Theatre 82, located at 82 Rolfe Square in Cranston, Rhode Island.
