Artists' Exchange is now accepting short play submissions for its 11th Annual One Act Play Festival, hosted July 22nd - August 13th, 2016, at Theatre 82 & Character's Café in Cranston. Seeking fresh new works by both emerging and established playwrights who are based locally, nationally, and/or internationally. Selected plays will be directed, produced, and performed by Rhode Island and local theater professionals, community actors, and Artists' Exchange artists.

Submission Guidelines: Plays should be original, short one act plays; ideal length 10-15 minutes with 20-minute maximum. Previously produced plays acceptable. Playwrights may submit up to three (3) plays. Comedic, absurd, dramatic, farcical, musical, etc. are all welcome for review. No submission fees required. All plays must be received by Friday, April 15, 2016. Any plays received or postmarked past April 15th will not be accepted for review.

Selected Plays for Performance: Plays will be reviewed and judged by a panel of community directors and actors on their artistic and technical merits. The Panel will finalize and announce all selected plays for performance by no later than Thursday, May 31, 2016. All playwrights will receive notification of whether their play(s) were accepted or not. By submitting works, playwrights agree to allow Artists' Exchange to produce their play(s) in the Festival for the public's entertainment and benefit. Participation is volunteer; no stipends or monetary prizes are awarded to selected playwrights. All monies collected from ticket sales will benefit Artists' Exchange/Gateways to Change, Inc. and the continuation of the One Act Play Festival for years to come. Selected playwrights will receive complimentary tickets (amount TBD) and recognition in the playbill, including a personal bio and contact information (if provided).

To Submit: Please send all plays to Artists' Exchange by physical mail or email and include your contact information and play title(s). Playwrights may only submit up to three (3) plays maximum. Physical mail submissions addressed to the attention of "One Act Play Festival Submission" and sent to Artists' Exchange, 50 Rolfe Square, Cranston, RI 02910.
