Review: EVIL LIBRARIAN: A NEW MUSICAL at Landless Theatre Company

Review: EVIL LIBRARIAN: A NEW MUSICAL at Landless Theatre Company

Washington, DC: Rachael F. Goldberg • June 17, 2026

Many of us have less-than-fond memories of high school, and can relate to the idea that “high school is hell” – enough so that a musical about a high school literally at the mouth of hell, overrun by demons and evildoing feels fairly apropos.

Review: AMAZING GRAVES Sets Two Short Plays Inside the Same Cemetery

Los Angeles: Shari Barrett • June 17, 2026

Have you ever wondered what really goes on in cemeteries when memories are shared with those seen and unseen at grave sites?  Then head on over to see two, funny and life-affirming plays in this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival, bundled together as Amazing Graves, produced by Amanda Lynne for Neo Ensemble Theatre.

Review: THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at Keegan Theatre

Review: THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at Keegan Theatre

Washington, DC: David Friscic • June 17, 2026

The Play That Goes Wrong, now playing at the Keegan Theatre, amusingly subverts classic murder mystery tropes by merrily mixing the physical comedy of the Three Stooges with the verbal intricacy of the Marx Brothers. This frenetically and madcap play conveys the double-entendre of Charlie Chan and the mass appeal of detectives we have all come to know through literature and film (for, indeed, the marvelous Matthew Pauli does a superb job of portraying “Chris” as Inspector Carter-- who reminded me of an absent-minded  Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple).

El Teatro Calderón estrena 'ALMA DE ZARZUELA'

Spain: Fasika Velasco Gomez • June 17, 2026

El espacio Lírico del Teatro Calderón será el escenario de Alma de zarzuela, un concierto dramatizado que conectará algunas de las obras más representativas del género con la historia del propio teatro y de la ciudad de Madrid.

Review: Diana Varco Shares Her Journey to RISE Above Childhood Rage

Review: Diana Varco Shares Her Journey to RISE Above Childhood Rage

Los Angeles: Shari Barrett • June 16, 2026

It's a very well done, confrontational hour-long play at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival, but also life-affirming to know none of us are alone in the struggle for emotional maturity rather than turn to the easy crutches of overeating, alcohol abuse, drug use or unbridled sex to forget about where the Rage holding our emotions in place is rooted.

Review: COMPANY at Rise Up Theatre Company

Review: COMPANY at Rise Up Theatre Company

Sacramento: Courtney Symes • June 16, 2026

Coming off a successful run of The Drowsy Chaperone at Cosumnes River College, Rise Up Theatre Company is tackling another fan favorite. Stephen Sondheim's Company has long been regarded as an insightful and groundbreaking comedy. In this latest production, director Courtney Conklin impressively rises to the challenge that Sondheim poses, offering an engaging and emotionally relatable interpretation that showcases both the strengths of the cast and the continuing relevance of the material.

Review: NICKELODEON THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL YOUTH EDITION at Ritz Civic Center

Arkansas: Theresa Bertram • June 16, 2026

Starting a new theatre company is a leap of faith. Launching that company with a full-scale musical featuring a cast of young performers is even bolder. Yet that is exactly what Kaitlyn Rose Vacco Woodall accomplished with THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL: YOUTH EDITION, presented June 5-7 by Rosewood Repertory at the historic Ritz Civic Center.

CRÍTICA: DIOS LE GUARDE SU HORA at Foro La Gruta

Mexico: Juan Carlos Araujo • June 16, 2026

Review: DON’T LOOK NOW at Bats Theatre

Review: DON’T LOOK NOW at Bats Theatre

New Zealand: Neil Brewer • June 16, 2026

I can sometimes feel intimidated by productions that focus on the climate crisis. They often leave me wrestling with feelings of guilt and the uncomfortable awareness that I could be doing more. Don't Look Now,written by Angie Farrow, is different. Beautifully and skilfully crafted, it doesn't seek to shame or lecture its audience; instead, it leaves me thoughtful and reflective, contemplating the world we live in, where we are headed, and the role we each play within it.

Review: BABY RAINDEER at Capitol Musical Theatre, Wroclaw

Review: BABY RAINDEER at Capitol Musical Theatre, Wroclaw

Poland: Natalia Jarczynska • June 15, 2026

The show isn't long - and neither will this text be. But the truth is, it stays with you long after you've left the theatre. Longer than you'd expect from something so compact. Jan Kowalewski made this show an intensive pleasure full of surprises - like an espresso with caramel (is that even a thing? It is now). His talent and range brought the whole production to another level entirely.

Review: ROMEO AND JULIET at State Theatre Centre

Review: ROMEO AND JULIET at State Theatre Centre

Australia - Perth: David Bravos • June 15, 2026

People know Romeo & Juliet. In fact, it feels to the point that people would be reasonably familiar with a somewhat modernised Romeo & Juliet. Indeed, the archetypal tragedy is so often pulled apart and rehashed that it can become tired. WAAPA’s third year acting students, keen to make an impression, refused to retread a tired path.

Review: LADY DISDAIN at Asolo Repertory Theatre

Review: LADY DISDAIN at Asolo Repertory Theatre

Sarasota: Shanti M Kennedy • June 15, 2026

'LADY DISDAIN', the Rolling World Premiere, by Lauren Gunderson is a romantic comedy play that cleverly infuses a modern and feminist twist into Shakespeare's classic 'Much Ado About Nothing.' The setting is a vibrant audio book recording studio, where the delightful drama unfolds between the feuding narrators Bea and Ben. What starts as a clash of egos slowly evolves into a heartwarming enemies-to-lovers story full of witty banter.

Review: MUSIC IN THE WILD: MELANIE EZELL & SATIA SPENCER CONCERT at Wildwood Park For The Arts

Arkansas: Theresa Bertram • June 15, 2026

Some concerts entertain. Others transport. On Thursday, June 4, at Wildwood Park for the Arts, Satia Spencer and Melanie Hanna Ezell delivered the latter, treating audiences to an evening of stunning vocals and enough beauty to leave everyone floating out of the theater. Accompanied by Adam Savacool on piano and Ethan Ezell on guitar, the duo created a concert that felt equal parts recital, theatrical performance, and love letter to music itself.
