Filament Theatre will stage the world premiere of Michelle Cuevas & Erin E. Stead’s critically acclaimed children’s book, The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles. This “captivating” picture book full of “quirky charm” (Publishers Weekly / School Library Journal) was a national bestseller and named best book of the year by Time, People, The Boston Globe, and School Library Journal.

The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles has a job of the utmost importance: to open any bottles found at sea and make sure that the messages are delivered. One day the lonely Uncorker opens a party invitation? - but there?'s no name attached. Filament?'s production puts audience members at the center of this heartwarming mystery leading us all to a celebration of friendship and community. With opportunities to play and engage with the story, Filament will have the whole family living in the themes of the production and playing together.

The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles is adapted by Melissa Pfeiffer-Lampl & Andrew J. Lampl with direction by Filament Theatre artistic director, Julie Ritchey. Tim McNulty will compose original music and music direct. The design team consists of costume designer Emily Waecker, set designer Amy Gilman, and lighting designer Carley Walker with production stage management by Caroline Foulk.

The cast includes Christopher Acevedo, Molly Bunder, Nico Fernandez, Olivia Jackson, La Shone T. Kelly, Michele Stine, with understudies Tia Pinson and Daniella Rukin.

Performances begin April 21st. Preview tickets start at $12 with full price tickets ranging from $14 - $17.50. To schedule a birthday party at The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles, please call: 773.270.1660. See website for information on field trip and sensory friendly performance dates.

Getting Old Sucks, devised and directed by CDE Ensemble Members, Scott Dare and Michele Stine, explores the aging process through individual experiences. Don't let the title fool you. Getting Old Sucks chases stories from all walks of life, diving deep into moments from pain and satisfaction to despair and elation. When did you last play hide-and-seek? Do you know how much a coffin costs? This production prods at the absurdity in the monotony of our trek through this timeline called, life. Aging may have its challenges, but it is also filled with precious moments that last a lifetime.
