Founded in 1977, the National Ballet Company has presented the most importan-tes stages of the country, parts of the classical repertoire and contemporary creations of origin na-tional and foreign, like Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Orfeu and Eurydice, Giselle, and Pedro and Inês. Under the artistic direction of Luisa Taveira since 2010, and succeeding names like Armando Jorge, Isabel Santa Rosa, Jorge Salavisa, Markc Jonkers, Mehmet Balkan and Vasco Wellenkamp, ??former prima ballerina believes that the fundamental mission of the CNB is "carry memories for the present". The CNB has invested over decades both in training and loyalty of your audience, such as the qualifications of their interpreters and creators, integrating more than 70 dancers in their composition. With over 90 shows last season, in the words of Luisa Taveira "which leads a dancer to work twelve hours a day must be a deep pleasure: the pleasure of getting beat up, the pleasure of achievement or competition, or yet another, but a pleasure.
