COPPELIA Comes to Teatro Das Figuras This Weekend

Coppélia tells the story of Swanilda and Franz, a young couple in love who are preparing to get married. In the village where they live there is the strange and mysterious Doctor Coppelius, an inventor who goes mad with the death of his daughter. He ends up building a ballerina doll, which he calls Coppélia, which he puts in the window every day.

When Franz sees her, he is completely in love and thinks only of meeting the new girl in the village. Swanilda decides to enter Dr. Coppelius' house to find out what is going on in that mysterious house and who is the young woman who stole her lover's heart. Swanilda pretends to be the doll to try to win back Franz's love. Chaos sets in, but is soon forgiven. Swanilda and Franz reconcile and marry, in a lively party, with various festive dances.

Performances are 18 and 19 December 2021.
