Youth Fall Workshop Series Begins Soon At Theater Works

TWICE UPON A TIME is a fun madcap workshop for young actors in which participants will be able to explore wild characters in a hilarious play. This new workshop is designed for new and seasoned actors alike. During the sessions the children will be working on acting skills that will ultimately culminate in a final performance. Join us to see what happens when some of the most beloved fairy tales mash up into a comedic romp with Princesses, witches and handsome Princes. A great time is sure to be had by both actors and audiences alike. The fall workshop will be held at Theater Works and begins on Monday, September 27th at 4:30 p.m. and will end with the children's performance on November 22nd at 7 p.m.

The TWICE UPON A TIME workshop will be taught and directed by Chris Hamby. Chris has years of experience working with youth theater. He created a very successful program with the City of Phoenix, as the Artistic Director of the Phoenix Center Youth Theater. He also taught acting classes for both youth and adults and produced a full season of shows. Directing highlights from his time at PCYT include, Little Shop of Horrors, Frankenstein, and a new musical adaptation of his original play Twilight's Quest for which he won ariZoni Awards for best director, best original work, best hair & makeup design, and best overall production. Chris has also worked as a full time drama teacher at the Franklin Arts Academy in the East Valley and as a lead teaching artist for Phoenix Theater. He has over 60 directing and producing credits to his name.

Registration for the workshop is now open to all children between the ages of 7 - 18. Children are encouraged to join the class regardless of previous acting experience. This workshop will teach new and experienced actors alike as they hone their acting skills. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. with a parent meeting on Monday, September 27th at 4:30 p.m.

Reservations are now available both online at theaterworks.org and at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. The Box Office is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily and may be reached at 623-815-7930. The TWICE UPON A TIME workshop begins on September 27th and ends on November 22nd with a full scale performance. The workshop is open to children ages 7 - 18 and only costs $225 for acting lessons and the performance. Theater Works is located in the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts (the theater with the copper roof) at 8355 W Peoria Avenue, Peoria.
