SNOOPY!!! Brings Schulz's Peanuts To Greasepaint Youtheatre, Runs 5/8-24 At

By:

Greasepaint Youtheatre closes its exciting and successful 08/09 season with Snoopy!!! running May 8 - 24, 2009.

Snoopy!!! with music by Larry Grossman and lyrics by Hal Hackady is based on the characters of the beloved Peanuts comic strip created by Charles M. Schulz. It is a show for the whole family with the classic wit of the Peanuts combined with incredible fantasy and imagination that will win any person's heart- young or old.

"The world according to Snoopy" is not only a song from the show, but a way of thinking. Director and choreographer, Laurie Trygg, explains, "The relationship that Snoopy has with the other characters is special, and it's a relationship that would never work with adults. Like Snoopy, most people turn to fantasy for fun and refuge."

The free thinking and spirit of the Peanuts characters is the reason the comic strip was set apart from so many others. Snoopy was not sitting in or peeking out, but rather sitting on top of his doghouse. He even had fantasies of being a World War I pilot! Trygg says, "It is this kind of imagination and freedom of expression we talked about as a cast. Throughout our process, our cast discovered their character's personal philosophy. They learned what bonds of friendship mean, how important acceptance of others different than themselves is, and about the pure innocence of childhood."

The talented cast of Snoopy!!! come together from all across the valley from cities including Chandler, Phoenix, Tempe, Apache Jct., Scottsdale, Glendale, Gilbert, Paradise Valley and Anthem.

As the show's lyrics remind you- "Don't Be Anything Less Than Everything You Can Be." All it takes is just one person who believes in you...and you can accomplish great things!
