Ilana Lydia's A WOMAN ON STAGE Opens Friday at SIC Sense

Ilana Lydia's audacious new play, A Woman on Stage opens Friday at SIC Sense.

A Woman on Stage finds Rachel, a grad student in an archaic field of study, feeling that her annoying roommates are making less and less sense, when a message comes to her through a Man on TV that she isn't real, but a fictional character. Rachel resists grasping the truth, relying on soliloquies and round-robin scene changing to explore her theatrical state.

"This play is pretty unique for B3, in that it doesn't have any "adult" material in it," Lydia said. "I'm excited to see younger folks in the audience, and dearly hope that the play will shape their expectations for future performances and shows."

"There's a lot of me in this script," Lydia continued. "The obsession with Metatheater (or theater which calls attention to the fact that it is theater). The imbalance. The way poetry sometimes takes you over, speaking through you about something much bigger than your typical world."

On Sunday, March 16th, B3 offers a special "pay what you can" matinee - all seats are available at the door, for whatever donation audience members can contribute. That performance is followed by a discussion facilitated by Now and Then Creative Company Artistic Director, John Perovich.

Seats for all other performances are available for a special online price of only $12, with all tickets at the door for $15.

SIC Sense is located at 1902-9 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix, Arizona 85006. For more information, visit their website.
