Brelby Theatre Company Presents The World Premiere Of SPIN
![]()
The Brelby Theatre Company located in Historic Downtown Glendale, is thrilled to be bringing the world premiere of Shelby Maticic's latest work Spin to the Brelby stage this March. Featuring direction by Brian Maticic, and onstage skating, this production will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
"Spin is about finding family in unlikely places," explains playwright, Shelby Maticic. "At its core, the story is about the different ways that we define courage, whether it's stepping out of your comfort zone or being brave enough to share your faults with the world."
Spin tells the story of the Derby Dames, a hot shot team in the fast-paced world of the Denver roller derby. When their star jammer is laid up with a 9-month injury, the Dames reluctantly agree to bring on the team captain's sister Dahlia. Dahlia, a high school physics teacher, is drawn to the science of the sport...but will she be able to handle the cutthroat competition?
"Spin is about a family -- their bonds, their triumphs, their losses, and their love," adds Marina Sharpe, portraying the role of Julia.
Spin features performances by Melody Chrispen as Iris, April Rideout as Dahlia, Shelby Huston as Scarlett, Elle Broeder as Gwen, Jonathan Gradilla as Joey, Rebecca Ulbrich as Alice, Shanna Griffin as Tempest, Sarah Bary as Bella, Nina Eleanya as Lexi, Marina Sharpe as Julia, Analyssa Sanchez as Veronica, and Tyler Miller as Hudson.
