THE AMISH PROJECT Plays Society Hill Playhouse’s Red Room Theatre

The Renegade Company is set to present the Philadelphia premiere of Jessica Dickey's riveting one-woman show The Amish Project. Throughout the piece we hear the story of a school shooting in an Amish community in Central Pennsylvania, told from the perspective of seven individuals linked to the event.

The Amish Project premiered to great acclaim at the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival and received an successful Off-Broadway at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre in 2009.

Renegade's production, starring Janice Rowland and under the direction of James Stover, will open on November 11th at the historic Society Hill Playhouse's Red Room Theatre.

The Renegade Company seeks to produce viscerally engaging theatre that explores issues foreign to everyday life in America. Following it's successful re-imagining of Aeschylus' Prometheus Bound, The Amish Project embraces Renegade's mission, and poses the question, "How could the Amish forgive such an Act?" Janice Rowland stars, following her turn in the sold out run of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival's Heavy Metal Dance Fag. Rowland's Previous credits also include Azuka Theatre's A Long Christmas Ride Home, Lantern Theatre's The Lady from the Sea and
Arden Theatre's A Prayer for Owen Meany.

James Stover, currently directing the world premiere of Hazardous for Philadelphia Theatre Workshop, has previously assistant directed the world premiere and Off-Broadway transfer of Jon Marans' The Temperamentals and appeared in the Walnut Street Theatre's world premiere of The
Eclectic Society.

The Amish Project production team includes Set Designer Meredith Sonnen, Light Designer Michael Hollingshead, Costumer Moriah Smith and Sound Designer Daniel Kontz.

Tickets at the door or by calling Society Hill Playhouse at 215.923.0210. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 dollars for students/seniors/under 30 (prices include a free drink).

Performances run from November 10th to November 20th (evening shows at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.).
