First Person Arts Valentine's Day EX FILES StorySlam Returns For Eighth Year Image

Is your ex a horror story? Does Valentine's Day make your skin crawl? Look no further for the perfect way to celebrate your love, or hate, for Cupid! First Person Arts, the Philly-based organization that celebrates the power of the personal, returns with their extremely popular Ex Files StorySlam on Wednesday, February 14 starting at 7pm. This year's storytelling extravaganza will take place at Punch Line Philly (33 E. Laurel Street, Philadelphia).

Ex Files, now in its eighth year, is First Person Arts' biggest StorySlam of the season, and with good reason. A StorySlam is more than a storytelling competition. It's an invitation to share five minutes of your life in a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Audience storytellers take to the stage with real life stories, and, on February 14, guests will share tales about loves lost or found. The winner will get a $100 prize and the chance to compete in the season finale, the Grand Slam, where Philly's best storyteller will be crowned.

First Person Arts' mission is to transform the drama of real life into memoir and documentary art to foster appreciation for our unique and shared experiences. The organization believes that everyone has a story to tell, and that sharing our stories connects us with each other and the world.

Popular First Person Arts host Chris Lundy will lead the evening's festivities at Punch Line Philly. Tickets are $14 and the event is general admission. More details and reservations can be found on FPA's website, firstpersonarts.org.
