Amos Lee to Perform at Merriam Theatre, 4/5

By:

Philly native singer-songwriter Amos Lee stops in his hometown to perform at the Merriam Theater on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 8pm as part of a national tour in support of his fourth album, Mission Bell, scheduled for release on January 25, 2011(Blue Note Records).  Lee performs a blend of folk, soul, jazz and R&B musical influences onstage with lush vocals, as illustrated in hit singles "Colors," "Shout out Loud" and "Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight" from his self-titled 2005 debut album.

Tickets for Amos Lee range from $29.50 to $35, and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at www.kimmelcenter.org, or at the Kimmel Center box office, which is open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply.)

Since the release of Amos Lee's first album in March 2005, the Cherry Hill, N.J. bred musician has developed into one the most celebrated artists of his generation. He has shared the stage with musical giants Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard to Paul Simon and Elvis Costello. Mission Bell, which was produced by Joey Burns of the acclaimed band Calexico, displays both range and cohesion, an array of emotions unified by Lee's eclectic taste and distinctive vocals. With a remarkable set of guests-including Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Sam Beam (Iron & Wine), James Gadson, Priscilla Ahn, and Pieta Brown-and the musical backing of Calexico, the album marks the arrival of Amos Lee as a mature artist who continues to explore his musical and thematic interests. His self-titled debut album was produced by Norah Jones' bassist, Lee Alexander, and featured Norah Jones playing piano and contributing vocals on several tracks.  Amos Lee was also named one of Rolling Stone's 'Top 10 Artists to Watch' in 2005.  Additional albums include Supply and Demand (2006) and Last Days at the Lodge (2008).  In October 2008, Lee performed at the Change Rocks voter registration rally on Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
