The concept recording for REVOLUTION IN THE ELBOW OF RAGNAR AGNARSSON FURNITURE PAINTER is now available through iTunes. NYC's Rockwood Music Hall hosted a special launch party for the recording on July 15th featuring a concert by an all-star lineup of Icelandic artists including Liam McCormick (The Family Crest), Soffia Bjorg and Stefan Örn Gunnlaugsson. Tony Award winner Cady Huffman and Kate Shindle are set to head the cast of Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter, a new musical with book, music & lyrics by Ívar Pall Jonsson, based on a story by Ívar and Gunnlaugur Jonsson. Performances will begin July 28th, with the official Opening Night on Wednesday, August 13th at the Minetta Lane Theatre, 18 Minetta Lane (just a few steps from Sixth Ave., one block south of W. 3rd St.)

Vulture.com welcomed actress Stephanie J. Block and composer Jason Robert Brown for 'The Art of Songwriting' at the first Vulture Festival, a weekend of pop culture events in New York City on May 10 and 11. During the event, Brown spoke to New York magazine theater critic Jesse Green about composing for musicals and played and sang some of his tunes with additional vocal accompaniment by Block. Sutton also starred on Broadway as Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical, for which she was honored with Tony and Drama Desk nominations, and the Outer Critics Circle Award. Prior to that, Sutton was Inga in the Mel Brooks musical, Young Frankenstein, Janet Van De Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations, LA Ovation Award) and Jo March in Little Women: The Musical (2005 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Award nominations). She is the recipient of the 2002 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Astaire Awards for her performance as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, a role she created in the 2000 La Jolla Playhouse premiere.

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) presents the new holiday classic, Elf The Musical, running tomorrow, Dec. 6 - 22 at Hobby Center's Sarofim Hall. Making his TUTS debut as the loveable 'elf' Buddy is Tommy J. Dose. He played Alfred Doolittle in the national tour of My Fair Lady and has circulated the regional theatre scene with companies including the Fulton Theatre, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and the Cumberland County Playhouse. Paper Mill Playhouse will open its 2011-2012 season with the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. The production is being directed at Paper Mill by Tony® nominee Jeff Calhoun (The Will Rogers Follies, Grey Gardens). The show begins performances on Thursday, September 15. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, September 25. Recently, BroadwayWorld stopped by the Newsies open call in New York City and went inside the audition room. The theater community recentky kicked off The Fantasticks 50th anniversary year with an early curtain of the show and a post-performance cocktail reception at The Snapple Center on Monday May 4th. The beloved hit also recently welcomed a number of new cast members, including the charming young actress Ramona Mallory as 'Luisa.'

Christy Carlson Romano, the popular actress and recording artist who starred on Broadway in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and received an Emmy-nomination for her performance as the title character on the Disney Channel's popular animated series 'Kim Possible' -- joined the Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning musical AVENUE Q on Monday September 29th.
