The sun came out in Thousand Oaks, CA last week as Cabrillo Music Theatre proudly opened its all new production of the hit musical, Annie. ANNIE also marks the return of Sally Struthers as Miss Hannigan to the Cabrillo stage, having won a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for her performance as the Fairy Godmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella last season. Annie opened Friday, October 14th and continues through Sunday, October 23rd, at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks. Broadway World TV's Los Angeles Correspondent/Producer Michael Sterling and Associate Producer Jerry Evans of JLE Media Group Inc., spent a day with Ms. Struthers and the Annie company to talk about the world's beloved musical.

DanceOn, the YouTube partnership channel exclusive to dance videos, released an inside look at the spectacular dancing in the world premiere of Newsies the Musical at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Cast members Jeremy Jordan, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Evan Kasprzak of So You Think You Can Dance discuss Christopher Gattelli's athletic choreography and what it means to be in a cult classic. Plus hear from Christopher and Newsies director Jeff Calhoun about their triple threat cast. Newsises begins previews on September 15, 2011 and runs through October 16, 2011.

Paper Mill Playhouse will open its 2011-2012 season with the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. The production is being directed at Paper Mill by Tony® nominee Jeff Calhoun (The Will Rogers Follies, Grey Gardens). The show begins performances on Thursday, September 15. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, September 25. Recently, BroadwayWorld stopped by the Newsies open call in New York City and went inside the audition room. Check out this video of the legendary Dolly Parton promoting the 9 to 5 national tour, which will be kicking off in Nashville at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. The first national tour of 9 to 5: THE MUSICAL featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton is coming to Ovens Auditorium Oct. 5-10. Charlotte is only the third stop on the tour.

Yesterday, August 8, Grammy-winning country music star Larry Gatlin took the stage of the Nederlander Theatre to join the cast of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET in a special performance of the song 'Johnny Cash is Dead and His House Burned Down,' a song written in tribute to Cash who was a friend of Gatlin's. In addition, Gatlin wrote songs that were recorded by Cash, Elvis Presley, and Carl Perkins, three of the members of the real Million Dollar Quartet. STAGE TUBE: Tommy Tune Exhibits NYC Penthouse, Now for Sale

Broadway legend Tommy Tune has put his multi-million dollar Park Avenue South penthouse up for sale in Manhattan. In an exclusive video, New York Magazine takes a walk-through tour of his former home, complete with top of the line furnishings, access to his own personal roof space and, most notably, the star's nine Tony Awards atop a fireplace mantle. Tune decided to sell the penthouse in order to accomodate the needs of his pet Yorkie, Shubert. The deluxe pad in New York's Flatiron district is not going for a song, however - the asking price for the home is currently a hefty $2.35 million dollars.
