It Shoulda Been You, which had a sold-out premiere at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse, will officially open on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Grammy award and Tony award nominee Michael McElroy and Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) are gearing up for their second holiday album 'Great Joy II: Around the World'. They are kicking off their fundraising with a Kickstarter campaign, running from May 15th through June 15th. BIV members and friends from the Broadway community who have supported in the campaign include BIV board president Phylicia Rashad, Mario Cantone, Lin Mañuel Miranda, Stephanie J. While on the road, Memphis cast members Jill Morrison and Christopher Gurr recorded the classic favorite Christmas song, 'Santa Baby,' with Jill singing lead vocals and Christopher playing ukelele and adding backup vocals. Last night MEMPHIS opened Segerstrom Center for the Arts' 2012-13 Broadway Series, and during the finale, local Orange County high school students surprised the cast and audience with a flash mob. Watch their performance below!

Yesterday, July 14, Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore hosted the 14th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. BroadwayWorld was there and brings you full video coverage of the event, including the opening performance by ONE MAN, TWO GUVNOR's band The Craze, plus interviews with the hostesses, as well as Julie Halston, Newsies' Jeremy Jordan, The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells, The Lyons' Dick Latessa (CQ) and many of the rescue groups in attendance, plus footage of Linda Lavin, Angela Lansbury and more presenting the animals available for adoption. On June 25, the stars of the upcoming revival of Jekyll & Hyde, Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) and Grammy Award Nominee Deborah Cox (Aida), hosted the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre. The show featured 60 of America's most talented young musical theater performers vying for the "Jimmy Award" for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. This year, Elizabeth Romero, Joshua Grosso were crowned the night's big winners. Each received $10,000 scholarship awards for their efforts. Runners up, who each recieved $2,500 in scholarships, were Evan Greenberg, Drew Shafranek, Nicolette Burton, and Erica Durham. BroadwayWorld's Randy Rainbow popped by the event and wandered onto the red carpet where he ran into Maroulis, Cox, Frank Wildhorn. Creator Michael McElroy will lead The Broadway Inspirational Voices in their 2nd Annual Spring concert to create an evening of hope, joy, and inspiration. With members such as Norm Lewis (PORGY AND BESS), Montego Glover (MEMPHIS), Eden Espinosa (WICKED) and many more representing such shows a The Lion King, Wicked, Memphis, Godspell, Pricilla Queen of the Desert, Sister Act, Spiderman, Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Book of Mormon, Leap of Faith, and Evita, "Highest Praise" will include a wide array of inspirational repertoire, including a few original pieces by McElroy. On May 15, the first National Tour of the Tony Award-Winning MEMPHIS arrives in Dallas to stay until May 27. The company just released a promotional video in preparation for the upcoming performances in Texas, which features Bryan Fenkart, Felicia Boswell, and an amazing ensemble of singers and dancers.
