In January, twenty of the brightest talents on Broadway were featured in Broadway Sings P!NK, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings concert series. The tribute concerts take the music of well-known music icons and create new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. Previous concerts have included Adele, Stevie Wonder, and Justin Timberlake; this May, producer Corey Mach (Godspell, Wicked) and music directorJoshua Stephen Kartes will present Broadway Sings Bruno Mars. Just last week, The Skivvies returned to 54 Below, back by popular demand. The 'musically thrilling' undie-rock, comedy-pop duo don't just strip down their musical arrangements, they literally strip down to their underwear to perform their distinctive mashups and eccentric originals for cello and ukulele, with touches of glockenspiel, melodica, and a surprising array of under-used instruments.
