Squeals of delight and blood-curdling screams of fright fill the Allen Theatre as Cleveland Play House's (CPH) Centennial Season continues with a humorous and heartfelt production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. CPH's production brings this dark storyline to life with loads of gleefully twisted comedy and head-bopping doo-wop on the Allen Theatre stage now through Feb. 7. The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work, led by Tony and Olivier nominee Haydn Gwynne, as well as Broadway's Stephen Bogardus and Lauren Molina. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct. Not only are the arrangements stripped down - cello, ukulele, glockenspiel, melodica - but the Skivvies literally strip down to their underwear to perform. It's undie-rock at its finest. Featured in People Magazine's Hottest Bodies Issue as the Most Playful performers, the Wall Street Journal calls them 'highly original...smart...ingenious'.
The Skivvies and Tony winner Laura Benanti have joined the good fight against cell phone usage in the theatre with a new song, aptly titled 'Look Up.' Written by Benanti, the number 'provides musical advice to audience members tempted to use mobile devices during a performance.'
