The National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA), the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and Detroit Public Television (DPTV) are collaborating to offer a live-stream webcast on creativity in America. Please join us on-line Friday, September 16, at 11:00 A.M. ET at http://dptv.org/nasaa for this special event featuring two leading arts luminaries: National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu and Aaron Dworkin, Dean of the University of Michigan's School of Music.
President and Mrs. Obama hosted an all-star music tribute 'A Celebration of American Creativity: In Performance at the White House,' celebrating the cultural resonance of art and literature in unique American musical forms, featuring performances by Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and hosted by Carol Burnett.
Just yesterday, President Barack Obama presented the National Medals of Arts in conjunction with the National Humanities Medals in an East Room ceremony at the White House. NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, 'Whether its animation or architecture, writing or music, these artists' creativity and passion have made an enormous impact on our nation. I join the President in congratulating them and celebrating the arts in our country.'
