STAGE TUBE: Ellen McLaughlin Talks 'ANGELS'

Signature Theatre Company's production of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, began performances Tuesday, September 14. The first New York revival of Kushner's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play is directed by Michael Greif. The production, originally slated to run through December 19, has been extended a second time through February 20, 2011. Last week, BroadwayWorld brought you clips of Kushner talking all things ANGELS and this newest revival. Today, we bring you the latest from the Signature's web series, revisiting original Angels company members. In this clip, Ellen McLaughlin, who played The Angel in the San Francisco, Los Angeles and Broadway productions of the show discusses a talkback that happened during the Broadway run, and the impact it had on her and Stephen Spinella, the Tony Award-winning actor who played Prior Walter.

ANGELS IN AMERICA Extends Again Thru Feb. 20, 2011

Due to overwhelming demand, Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin) is pleased to announce a second extension for the first New York revival of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, directed by Michael Greif. The production, originally slated to run through December 19, 2010 and extended once through January 30, 2011, will now play an additional three weeks through Sunday, February 20, 2011.

The Signature Theatre has released the artwork (below left) for its upcoming production of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA, The New York Times reveals. The play will open Off Broadway on September 14. Milton Glaser, who created the art for the original Broadway production (below right), also created the new artwork.

Candle Goes Out in BEHANDING Final Show

In Sunday night's closing performance of A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE, Martin McDonagh's new play starring Christopher Walken, a burning candle failed to stay lit, the New York Post reports. In the play, Walken's character covers characters Toby and Marilyn (played by Anthony Mackie and Zoe Kazan, respectively) in gasoline and leaves them in a room with a candle burning in a can of petrol. However, at Sunday's performance, the flame went out. The problem was soon fixed by a stagehand, for whom the audience applauded enthusiastically, the Post reports. The event was widely discussed at the play's closing party, held at the restaurant Gansevort 69.
