To celebrate this anniversary, Esa-Pekka Salonen - a fervid devotee and mentee of Lutos?awski - the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Sony Classical continue their long-established relationship by recording Lutos?awski's Symphony No. 1 live at Walt Disney Concert Hall this December.

The Joyce Theater Foundation announced today that it has successfully rescheduled Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal to return for four performances December 13 - 15, after its original Joyce engagement this season was canceled due to the power and transportation outages caused by Hurricane Sandy. As previously announced, the program will include new works by Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto, former Batsheva resident choreographer Barak Marshall, and celebrated Chinese choreographer Wen Wei Wang. Marin Alsop returns to the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in three performances, Today and Saturday, November 2 and 3, at 8 pm, as well as Sunday, November 4, at 2 pm. All three evenings include Golijov's Azul, featuring rising young cellist Joshua Roman, as well as hyper-accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman, and percussionists Jamey Haddad and Keita Ogawa. The three evenings close with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique," what many consider to be the composer's most profound symphony. The Saturday and Sunday programs open with Barber's Essay No. 2.
