Beethoven, Copland, Bernstein, World Premieres and More Set for Atlanta Symphony's 2012-13 Season

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra President Stanley E. Romanstein, Ph.D., Music Director Robert Spano, and Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles have announced the 2012-13 season of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra - the Orchestra's 68th season and Mr. Spano's and Mr. Runnicles's 12th season as artistic partners.

Los Angeles Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky Makes Hollywood Bowl Concert Debut with LA Phil, 9/11

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, makes his Hollywood Bowl concert debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, tonight, September 11, at 8 pm. Yaroslavsky serves as narrator in Aaron Copland's A LINCOLN PORTRAIT, in an evening led by conductor Bramwell Tovey. The program also features Bowl favorite, violinist Sarah Chang, a longtime Bowl favorite, performing a suite from Bernstein's WEST SIDE STORY for violin and orchestra by David Newman. Gershwin's CUBAN OVERTURE and Copland's BILLY THE KID SUITE complete the program.

Gabriel Kahane Makes Carnegie Hall Recital Debut, 10/25

GabrielKahane will return to Carnegie Hall on April 27, 2013, this time in Stern Auditorium. It will be another world premiere: a concerto for himself and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, with which he has served as composer-in-residence for two seasons.

In a blazing Labor Day finale to Rite of Summer's 2012 season, Todd Reynolds, 'New York's reigning Jazz and Classical Violinist' (The New Yorker), and fiddle-player of choice for avant-gardists everywhere, has assembled a stellar cast of characters to explore the vortex where bluegrass, electronica, minimalism and classical music swirl. Featuring music of glass harmonica virtuoso Jonny Rodgers, avant-bluegrass guitarist Jordan Tice (The Jordan Tice Trio), and the singular percussionist Mathias Kunzli, currently on tour with Regina Spektor. This will take place on Colonels' Row tonight, September 3rd.

The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's (LACO) trademark three-concert "Westside Connections" series this season pairs novelists and musicians for a fascinating exploration of the relationship between "Music & Story" beginning on Thursday, September 13, 7:30 pm, at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica. James Conlon to Lead Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concert, 8/20

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel kicks off his two-week return to the Hollywood Bowl, summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with an exciting series of shows that pair Dudamel with revered cellist Yo-Yo Ma on Tuesday, August 7, and with prodigious pianist Yuja Wang on Thursday, August 9. In what is becoming an annual summer tradition, Gustavo Dudamel also continues to share his passion for opera in a special, one-night-only performance of Verdi's Rigoletto on Sunday, August 12, featuring an international cast led by baritone Željko Lu?i?, in his signature role as the hunchbacked court jester doomed by a sinister curse.

LA Phil and Classical KUSC Continue Partnership to Broadcast 2012 Hollywood Bowl Concerts

Pace University has announced the 2012 / 2013 season of Pace Presents, hosted at The Michael Schimmel Center for The Arts located at 3 Spruce Street between Park Row and Gold Street in downtown Manhattan. Pace Presents is a world-class performing arts and culture series with an emphasis on music superstars from around the globe, charismatic and crowd-pleasing dance performances, spectacular theatre and contemporary cabaret. The Pace Presents season begins on September 22 with Gypsy brass superstars Fanfare Ciocarlia and culminates on April 20 with Jazz's living treasure, Hugh Masekela.
