Center Theatre Group Celebrates Music of Loesser at Taper; Feinstein Hosts

The musical legacy of Frank Loesser, often called the most versatile of all Broadway composers, will be celebrated at Center Theatre Group's Salon XVI at the Taper, 'Happy to Make Your Acquaintance,' hosted by Michael Feinstein, Monday, November 17 at 8 p.m., at the Mark Taper Forum of the Los Angeles Music Center.

42nd Street Moon Presents Tribute to Harburg

42nd Street Moon offers a glorious musical salute to lyrical whiz, E. Y. Yip Harburg, with the world premiere of Peddling Rainbows, a revue celebrating Harburg's poetry and songs. It previews May 15 and 16, opens May 17 and runs through May 25.

Andrea Marcovicci to Star in 42nd St. Moon's 'Coco'

Cabaret and concert star Andrea Marcovicci brings her own captivating high style to the role of the magnificent and mercurial fashion doyenne, Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel in 42nd Street Moon's upcoming production of Coco. Alan J. Lerner and Andre Previn's musical memory play - unseen anywhere since the early 1970s -- will preview April 24 and 25, open on April 26, and run through May 11.

Stein and Harnick's 'Jews of New York' Premieres Jan.20 on WLW21

Legendary Broadway writers Joseph Stein and Sheldon Harnick are featured in WLIW's new production The Jews of New York - a new documentary premiering this Sunday, January 20 at 8 pm on WLIW21. In the film, they speak about their work on the legendary musical 'Fiddler on the Roof,' and the impact of the Jewish community on the mainstream New York institution of Broadway. During the heyday of the Broadway musical, Stein and Harnick's colleagues were primarily Jewish - Rogers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg - but no musical had specifically addressed Jewish culture in its content.
