New York Philharmonic's 'Concerts in the Parks' to Return for 51st Season This June

The 2016 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will return for the 51st season with five free outdoor concerts, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, on the Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan (June 15 and 16); Prospect Park, Brooklyn (June 17); Cunningham Park, Queens (June 20); and Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (June 21).

All-Prokofiev Concert with Pianist Yefim Bronfman & Violinist Guy Braunstein Rescheduled at Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall today announced that the concert by pianist Yefim Bronfman and violinist Guy Braunstein - which had been postponed from Wednesday, March 9 - has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. The all-Prokofiev program will remain the same and tickets purchased for the original date will be honored in June. Ticket holders with questions can call CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800.

Marlboro 50th Anniversary Tour Musicians from Coming To Seligman, 4/9

 The Chamber Music Society of Detroit will present Musicians from Marlboro as part of the Marlboro Music Festival's 50th anniversary 8-city national tour on Saturday, April 9, 2016, 8 PM at Seligman Performing Arts Center.  This year's ensemble features brilliant young professional musicians together with celebrated master artists, including violinists Robin Scott and Itamar Zorman, violist Samuel Rhodes, cellist Brook Speltz and pianist Cynthia Raim.  The program includes Haydn's String Quartet in C major, Op. 20, No. 2, Alban Berg's Lyric Suite, and Dvo?ak's Piano Quintet in A major.

The Cleveland Orchestra Announces 99th season for 2016-17

The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Most have announced details of the Orchestra's 2016-17 season. The year marks the Orchestra's 99th season and the 15th season of the acclaimed partnership with its Music Director. Recent praise of the Orchestra under the artistic leadership of Franz Welser-Most includes The New York Times calling the ensemble "…American's most brilliant orchestra," and The Wall Street Journal stating that the Orchestra is "…magnificent."

BWW Review: Cleveland Orchestra Plays All Beethoven Concert with Yefim Bronfman

A recent trip to New York included a tour of Carnegie Hall. As we entered the famous auditorium someone asked, 'How are the acoustics?' The seasoned tour guide answered, 'they are good, but not as good as Cleveland's Severance Hall.' He went on to say, 'Though this is a beautiful setting, it doesn't compare to Cleveland's Severance Hall. This was followed, about ten minutes later by the comment, 'The orchestras that play here are top-notch, especially the Cleveland Orchestra.' Following the tour I asked if he was a northern Ohio native. He responded that he wasn't, but came to Cleveland at least twice a year to hear the orchestra and always attended their performances in the Big Apple.
