Classical Theater of Harlem to Stage World Premiere of FIT FOR A QUEEN

The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents the world premiere of Fit for a Queen, a comedy inspired by the life of Hatshepsut, a woman who ruled as a pharaoh in ancient Egypt. Hatshepsut's female lover helps her usurp the throne, only to finds herself at odds with an unexpectedly ruthless rival for power - her daughter.

To-By-For Productions' MECHANICS OF LOVE Begins Tonight at The Paradise Factory

To-By-For Productions is proud to present the New York Premiere of Dipika Guha's MECHANICS OF LOVE, directed by Elena Araoz (She-She-She in Ice Factory Festival; Architecture of Becoming with Women's Project) at The Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) tonight, September 8, through September 24.

Andy Bragen's DON'T YOU F**CKING SAY A WORD to Premiere at 59E59 Theaters

Andy Bragen Theatre Projects and Rachel Sussman will present the World Premiere of Andy Bragen's DON'T YOU F**KING SAY A WORD, directed by Lee Sunday Evans (2015 Obie Award-winner for A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes) at 59E59 Theaters, November 4-December 4.

Dixon Place to Present Two Weekend Run by InTandem Lab

Dixon Place will present InTandem Lab's Instructions to Decode A(n In)human transformation, a postmodern punk 'roach' Kabaret inspired by Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis. Written in verse by Gisela Cardenas and delivered as spoken poetry by a cast of three, I2Decode explores the intertwining of live music, video mapping and words. Ryan Justesen (Playwrights Horizons/NYU) will direct the inaugural production under the artistic direction of InTandem Lab.

WAM Theatre Sets Cast for Fresh Takes Reading of GRAND CONCOURSE

WAM Theatre has announced the cast for the last of their 2016 Fresh Takes Play Reading Series, Grand Concourse by Heidi Schreck, directed by Sheila Siragusa. The reading will take place on Sunday, September 11 at 3 pm at No. Six Depot Roastery and Cafe, 6 Depot Street in West Stockbridge, MA.

The Play Company Extends Christopher Chen's CAUGHT

In response to popular demand, The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Interim Managing Director, Robert G. Bradshaw, extends the New York premiere of Christopher Chen's Caught to September 24, the final production in the company's 15th Anniversary Season

Daphne Rubin-Vega Joins Cast of World Premiere of MISS YOU LIKE HELL at La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of Miss You Like Hell, book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegria Hudes (In the Heights, Water by the Spoonful), music and lyrics by acclaimed singer/songwriter Erin McKeown, directed by Lear deBessonet (Public Theatre's The Odyssey) and choreographed by Danny Mefford (Broadway's Fun Home). Commissioned by the Playhouse and developed during the 2016 DNA New Work Series, the production has been extended by one week, now running October 25 - December 4 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre. TOUCH, with ONCE's Katrina Lenk, Comes to 59E59 Theaters Tonight

59E59 Theaters welcomes Libra Theater Company with TOUCH, written by Toni Press-Coffman and directed by Nathaniel Shaw. TOUCH began performances on August 18 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 4. Press opening is tonight, August 24 at 7:30 PM.

Ars Nova to Present UNDERGROUND RAILROAD GAME This Fall

Ars Nova, New York's incubator for boundary-pushing theater, is pleased to present Underground Railroad Game (September 13-October 15), created by Jennifer Kidwell and Scott Sheppard with Philadelphia based theater company Lightning Rod Special and directed by Taibi Magar.

Zainab Jah & Jessica Luck Round Out Cast for Lisa Lampanelli's STUFFED Premiere at WP Theater

WP Theater welcomes Obie Award Winning actress Zainab Jah (Eclipsed) and rising actress Jessica Luck, joining two-time Grammy-nominated comedian Lisa Lampanelli (HBO, Comedy Central, The Howard Stern Show) and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Ann Harada (Avenue Q, Cinderella) in completing the cast for the world premiere of STUFFED, a new play written by Lampanelli, with additional material by Ashley Austin Morris.

Botanicum Seedlings Announces 2016 Israel Baran Award Winner, Opens Submission Window for New Plays

Botanicum Seedlings, Theatricum Botanicum's development series for playwrights, is pleased to announce the recipient of the 6th annual "Izzy" Award for new plays. The winning play, The Last Nights of Scheherazade by Paula Cizmar, was presented last summer as a private, developmental 'GreenRead.' Named for Theatricum's first dramaturg, Israel Baran, who passed away in 2007, the Izzy recognizes the Seedlings play that "speaks to us the loudest" - in honor of Israel's keen mind, sharp tongue and ear for language (despite the fact that he was frustratingly deaf).
