Folger Theatre continues its celebrated 25th anniversary season with As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, this classic tale filled with love, laughter, and mistaken identity features original songs composed by Heather Christian and dances by Alexandra Beller. As You Like It is on stage from January 24 through March 5, 2017.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) begins performances for the 13th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL on Wednesday, January 4.

VIM VIGOR DANCE COMPANY presents the New York Premiere of FUTURE PERFECT at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue, NYC 10010 (25th Street between 3rd & Lexington Aves). Performances are just under an hour and run Thurs-Sat at 7:30pm from February 2-11, 2017.

Playwright Martyna Majok's work is making a great impact, most recently 'Ironbound' at Round House Theatre (where it won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Original Play) and Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, and 'Cost of Living' at Williamstown Theatre Festival and set for its New York debut at Manhattan Theatre Club this season.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 32 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2017 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 18 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Award winning EMH Productions begins its sixth season of provocative and compelling theatre with the titillating Sex with Strangers by acclaimed writer Laura Eason.  A two-character modern day drama, this play made its debut at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and was directed by David Schwimmer (of the hit TV series Friends) when it debuted at Second Stage Theatre in New York.  Since then, it made its West Coast debut last summer at the Geffen Playhouse to sold out houses, and has been one of the top 10 most produced plays of 2015/2016.  This timely play delves into the world of social media,  treatment of women as sex objects, the dynamics of a relationship between a younger man and an older woman, along with testing our understanding of whether a public persona is who a person truly is behind closed doors.  Sex with Strangers will run from February 2nd through February 18th, 2017 at The Geery Theatre, 2130 L St, Sacramento, CA 95816

The New York premiere of THE PORTAL began an Off-Broadway open-ended run on October 27, 2016 at the Minetta Lane Theatre. THE PORTAL is a rock odyssey conceived and directed by Luke Comer, with original music composed by Tierro Lee and Luke Comer, starring Billy Lewis Jr. (Mason McCarthy on the Fox series 'Glee'), and choreographed by Jessica Chen. California Shakespeare Theater today announced that Tyne Rafaeli will direct Cal Shakes' final production of its 2017 season, the previously-announced Measure for Measure. This first-ever co-production between Cal Shakes and Santa Cruz Shakespeare will play at the Bruns Amphitheater from September 20 through October 15.

New Dramatist playwright Melisa Tien and San Francisco-based Megan Cohen joined The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in residence this month to develop innovative stage works with the Academy's third year NY Company.

Abingdon Theatre Company continues its Ghostlight Reading Series with TALL SKINNY CRUEL CRUEL BOYS by Caroline V. McGraw, author of Ultimate Beauty Bible (Page 73), on Thursday, December 15 at 7pm. The reading is free and open to the public at Abingdon Theatre Company's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Danya Taymor is set to direct.
