TV: 2011 Steinberg Playwrights Awards Honors Melissa James Gibson and Lisa D'Amour - Inside the Event!

Lisa D'Amour and Melissa James Gibson are this year's recipients of the 2011 Steinberg Playwright Awards, presented by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust at Lincoln Center last night, November 14. The Steinberg Playwright Awards are presented biennially, and are uniquely positioned to honor the accomplishments of some of the most gifted up-and-coming American playwrights, and to recognize the promise they hold for the future of American theatre.

THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER Plays Denver Center's Space Theater

THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER, adapted for the stage by Laura Eason, based on the novel by Mark Twain, will play the Denver Center Theatre Company's Space Theatre November 11 - December 18 (opening night Thursday, November 17.)

Catherine Trieschmann Receives Guernsey New Voices in Amer. Theatre Award

Catherine Trieschmann, a Kansas-based playwright whose work has been produced globally at venues ranging from South Coast Repertory of Orange County, the Bush Theatre of London, and the New Theatre of Sydney, is the winner of the 2012 William Inge Theatre Festival's Otis Guernsey New Voices in the American Theatre Award.

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director), Women's Project (Julie Crosby, Producing Artistic Director) and La Jolla Playhouse (Christopher Ashley, Artistic Director; Michael S. Rosenberg, Managing Director) has announced a one-week extension of its critically-acclaimed, sold out New York premiere production of MILK LIKE SUGAR, a new play by Kirsten Greenidge, directed by Rebecca Taichman.

Directed by Rebecca Taichman (Menopausal Gentlemen, Orlando, The Scene), the production has an Opening Night set for Tuesday, November 1 at 7PM. The limited engagement will play through Sunday, November 20 at Playwrights Horizons Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

The Wild Project Presents REFRAIN 11/3-19

P.O.V. Artists announces the world premiere of Refrain, a new play by Melisa Tien starring Marc Santa Maria and Brooke Eddey. Refrain premieres at the Wild Project on Nov. 3rd with performances through Nov. 19th.

American Repertory Theater Presents Three Pianos, Opens 12/7

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) continues its 2011-12 season with Three Pianos by Rick Burkhardt, Alec Duffy and Dave Malloy, with music from Franz Schubert's Winterreise, Op. 89, D911 (1828), directed by Rachel Chavkin.
