The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University has announced the five-play repertory for its 23rd season of producing and developing new American theater. Sundance Institute and the LUMA Foundation today announced that the two organizations will collaborate to host the Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat at Domaine de l'Armelliere, July 29 - August 9, in Arles, France. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director of the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, Producing Director Christopher Hibma and Program Associate Anne Kauffman, the Retreat will be the first theatre director-centered residency at the Institute.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the Globe's revival of N. Richard Nash's classic romantic comedyThe Rainmaker. Directed by Maria Mileaf, The Rainmaker will run July 13 - August 11, 2013 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run July 13 - July 17. New York City Center's 2013-14 season features an exciting lineup of dance, theater and music that begins with the 10th anniversary celebration of City Center's acclaimed Fall for Dance Festival. The Festival kicks off with two free dance performances at the Public Theater's Delacorte Theater in Central Park and continues at City Center with performances by 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world. Following Fall for Dance, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures returns to New York City Center to present the New York premiere of Sleeping Beauty; Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis join forces on the world premiere of A Bed and A Chair: A New York Love Story, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, City Center's Principal Dance Company, returns for a month-long engagement in December.

On July 8th, 2013 at 7:30pm, Interstate, a new concert musical, will have its first public staged reading as part of this year's HOT! Festival presented by Dixon Place. Written and performed by Melissa Li and Kit Yan, the musical follows the drama of two queer Asian-American performers embarking on their first cross-country tour with a new white drummer and learning to negotiate their relationships with their art, their communities, and each other. Melissa Li and Kit Yan, professional composer and spoken word artist, respectively, are both established NYC-based artists and long-time collaborators. This is their first musical together.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Retrop Productions will present JULIAN PO, a new musical with book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett and music by Ira Antelis, from July 8 to 14, 2013. JULIAN PO, which mixes comedy and drama, opens in New York after a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for "Best Book of a Musical." JULIAN PO, based on the book La mort de monsieur Golouja by Branimir Š?epanovi? and the screenplay "Julian Po" by Alan Wade, features elements of pop, rock, country, bluegrass and gospel. JULIAN PO is an official selection of The New York Musical Theatre Festival's "2013 Next Link Project." The show is directed by Kirsten Sanderson with music direction by Mark Hartman.
Tonight, June 11th at 6 p.m., Women Stage the World, an advocacy project from The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), will bring to life a suffragette inspired parade in which Broadway theatregoers will see over 100 women parading and advocating for equal representation in theatre. Many parading will be wearing costumes in honor of famous women who set the stage: you may recognize the likes of Dorothy Parker, Katharine Cornell, Aphra Behn, Margo Jones, Lady Gregory or Hallie Flanagan, the director of WPA Theatre.
