MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Sets Summer Season

Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) Kelsey Theatre will offer something for everyone in its four theatrical offerings this summer. There's a show for family audiences, one for rock music fans, one for patrons who enjoy classic Broadway musicals, and one for those who just plain love theater and the actors who make it happen. Kelsey Theatre is located on MCCC's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Lipuma, continues its 2015/16 season with Death of a Streetcar Named Virginia Woolf: A Parody created by Tim Ryder and Tim Sniffen, written by Tim Sniffen and directed by Stuart Carden and Michael Halberstam.

BWW Review: Misbehave with MCT and Succumb to Coward's Fanciful FALLEN ANGELS

One of the hidden elements entwined in Noel Coward's wry play Fallen Angels becomes the French love song 'Memes les Anges'--which translates the first line to: 'Even the angels succumb to love.' On stage in the beautiful Cabot Theatre,  Milwaukee Chamber Theatre's  (MCT) delightful production of Coward's 1925 play, written when he was in his 20's, use this love song's words combined with the lyrics to Cole Porter's 'Let's Misbehave' to underpin the deceptive meaning of the scintillating humor in Coward's words.

Williams Street Repertory's DEATH OF A SALESMAN Opens 4/22

Williams Street Repertory closes its 2015-2016 season with Arthur Miller's Pulitzer Prize-winning story of a man at the end of his rope. First produced in 1949, "Death of a Salesman" firmly established Miller's reputation as one of the premiere American playwrights.

BWW Review: Fever Dream: STREETCAR at Everyman

We in the audience are continually torn between cheering the gumption and the desire behind Blanche's lies and being appalled at the human cost the lies inflict, not least on the teller of them.

ArtsWest to Present DEATH OF A SALESMAN

Under the direction of ArtsWest's Artistic Director Mathew Wright, Arthur Miller is brought to the stage in a stripped down, elegant and savage production of a tragic love story between father and son. This thrilling work lays bare the raw emotions of love, the desire for success, and then need for compassion in a horror story of shame, guilt and expectations run amok.

BWW: Review: Everyman Makes What Can Be Made of Miller's SALESMAN

The unresolvedness of social themes is a feature, not a bug, as far as Miller is concerned. Miller has willed the ambiguities and the gaps in information, and tightly controlled the opportunities for interpretation that might resolve or suggest resolutions to the ambiguities. There is a path to execute, and the Everyman crew execute marvelously, but this is not the same thing as the artistry that directors and actors can ordinarily exert. Most plays give their performers more room to interpret, to breathe.
