The second annual SOUL TRAIN AWARDS gears up for a highly anticipated show on Wednesday, November 10 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in metropolitan Atlanta, GA. 'It's a Grilled Cheesus!' Finn exclaims, thus beginning a 'Holy Cheesus' of an episode of Glee. Gleeks, this week was kind of heavy with its take on God and spirituality being the front and center focus of the episode. Finn makes a grilled cheese sandwich, which has the likeness of Jesus on it, thus making it a 'Grilled Cheesus.' Kurt visits his dad's garage to bring his dad his breakfast, leading to a conversation about their traditional Friday night dinners, which Kurt seems to find pointless now with his mother gone, much to Burt's disappointment. At rehearsal, the discussion of Finn's 'Grilled Cheesus' leads to a discussion on religion and varying opinions of it, the most harsh and agnostic coming from Kurt, who feels religion is a joke of sorts. Mr. Schuester decides to make the theme of the week spirituality, leading to Puck jumping up to perform 'Only the Good Die Young' by fellow Jew, Billy Joel.

Today we begin a new comprehensive academic music discussion series on BroadwayWorld in which I speak to the most cutting-edge artists in the recording industry, on Broadway and in Hollywood about their influences and experiences in the industry with an emphatic emphasis on the songwriting process itself and what drives and inspires it. While these discussions may be on occasion only tangentially theatre-related, the insights provided by the various participants is a demonstrative way in which to illuminate perhaps the most mysterious of all the arts: music. Peering into the psyche of the composer and lyricist, we may begin to understand what the craft of composition and lyric-writing is all about and why musical theatre tends to attract the most talented and innovative songwriters, both in the twentieth-century and today (as this column proves).

It took me more than five years of being in Las Vegas but I finally saw Frank Marino's show. The city's best-known, and longest-running, drag performer is now in Divas Las Vegas at the Imperial Palace. The very special occasion the night I saw it was the celebration of Marino's 25 years as a Las Vegas Strip headliner.

This week GLEE took on Britney, but according to E! Online, the forecast for the hit show's next episode is a little more spiritual.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced back in August that Bernadette Peters will star as Sally Durant Plummer in the Kennedy Center production of Follies in the Eisenhower Theater May 7 to June 5, 2011. Additionally, BroadwayWorld.com had heard that starring alongside Peters could be Sex and the City star and Golden Globe winner Kim Cattrall as Phyllis, Danny Burstein as Buddy and John Dossett as Ben, all of whom were cast and were then in contract negotiations. We've now heard from reliable sources that neither Cattrall or Dossett were able to work out their contract deals for the production and that both sides have moved in. Now said to be in talks? First lady of the British Musical Theatre Elaine Paige and Linda Lavin, who was most recently a 2010 Tony nominee for Collected Stories. More information to come soon...
