If you're a cabaret performer thinking about staging a musical comedy theme show, or even if you're just a cabaret fan who appreciates a thoroughly entertaining show on multiple levels, you should try to squeeze yourself into The Duplex on Wednesday night at 7 pm to see Adam Shapiro's encore performance of his Guide to the Perfect Breakup, which is also a textbook on how to create the almost perfect musical comedy cabaret show. With the guidance and support of Director Peter Napolitano and Musical Director Barry Levitt, Shapiro has crafted a structurally intricate yet seamless show about the evolution of romantic relationships-no matter what your gender-which is also funny without being sarcastic, biting without being bitchy, and tender without being cloying. And it showcases the talents of a cuddly teddy bear of a performer, who possesses the kind of solid singing, acting, and comedic chops that make him a young, rising cabaret star.

Coming to bergenPAC in Englewood, New Jersey today, August 14th is the Rock'n'Blues Festival which will debut featuring five well-known players who were initially inspired to pick up their instruments due to their love for rock and blues: Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, Leslie West and Kim Simmonds.
His full name is Alfred Matthew Yankovic; more accurately known as "Weird Al" Yankovic, the multi Grammy Award-winner brings his inspired lunacy to Three Stages this August as part of his Alpocalypsetour. Three Stages Executive Director Dave Pier noted that, "He's the biggest selling comedy recording artist of all time--touring behind his first full length album in nearly five years-and he's coming to Three Stages for not one, not two, but three shows. It's going to be crazy…crazy fun."
Bringing artists from all over the world, and from most every genre, Three Stages will offer literally hundreds of performances in the 2012-13 season. Beginning in August, 2012 and concluding in June, 2013; world-class performers from Branford Marsalis to The Manhattan Transfer, from the Vienna Boys Choir to Natalie MacMaster, from the China National Symphony Orchestra to the Russian National Ballet Theatre, from the Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch to Shrek The Musical, will grace the stages at Three Stages. Complementing the stellar international lineup is a who's who of regional arts organizations, from the El Dorado Musical Theatre to the Sacramento Guitar Society to the Folsom Symphony and more, including the Three Stages' debut of the Sacramento Opera.
