In four stellar concerts featuring some of the brightest luminaries in jazz today, 2019's Highlights In Jazz series brings together a multitude of beloved jazz musicians spanning an eclectic mix of generations and styles. You'll hear unforgettable performances from jazz veterans including Warren Vaché, Houston Person, and Norman Simmons; up-and-comers like Veronica Swift, Christian Sands, and Peter and Will Anderson; and straight-ahead stalwarts such as Steve Turre, George Cables, Buster Williams, along with many more. These gifted players and others will pay tribute to a pantheon of jazz legends, including this year's featured honoree, trumpeter Randy Brecker; plus, the music of Randy Weston, Erroll Garner, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong will also be featured.

The classic novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a holiday favorite. Whether in book form, as a film, or on the stage, the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and Bob Cratchit never fails to tug at the heart-strings and remind us about the things that are really important. Scrooge is helped along his journey from heartless miser to a kind and generous man by the ghosts of Christmas present, past, and future. A Christmas Carol opens at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre on November 15th, and we had a chance to hear about the production from Theresa Walker, Timothe Bittle, and Alicia McGinty, the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, respectively.

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) presents the return of NYC-based Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant, one of CPT's most celebrated holiday entertainments. The production is onstage from November 29 - December 22, 2018, in CPT's historic Gordon Square Theatre. Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant earned accolades in TimeOut NYC and The Village Voice, was a winner of a New York Innovative Theater Award in 2012, and was selected as a "10 Best of the Year" pick by The Plain Dealer in 2011.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL Returns to Ford's Theatre This December

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault announced that acclaimed Washington actor Craig Wallace will return to Ford's to perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the company's holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Performances of the classic Charles Dickens story begin November 15 and continue for a six-and-a-half-week engagement through December 30, 2018. This "musically high-spirited" and "infectiously jolly" (The Washington Post) production is adapted by Michael Wilson and directed by Michael Baron.

The Eighth Annual Bickford Benefit Concert featuring an all-star ensemble of outstanding jazz artists from the Tri-State area comes to the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum for one night only on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 7:30 PM. The ensemble includes trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg, cornetist Warren Vache, trombonist Mariel Bildsten, clarinetist Dan Levinson, pianist Rossano Sportiello, guitarist/vocalist Molly Ryan, bassist Rob Adkins, and drummer Mark McLean. All of the ticket sales from this concert will go to support programming at the Bickford Theatre.

The Fall Festival of Shakespeare celebrates its 30th season, bringing together over 500 local students to explore Shakespeare, creativity, and teamwork. The nationally recognized program begins with an integral series of four Common Classes where hundreds of teenagers come together for workshops in Stage Combat, Dance and Movement, Technical Theatre and Performance Preparation. Ten different schools are represented in this year's Festival, coming from the Berkshires, Pioneer Valley, and eastern New York State.

The fourth annual Maui Songwriters Festival presented by BMI, happening November 29th- December 1st, combines the lush landscapes and local flavor of Maui with the international acclaim of music's best songwriters. Hosted by Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, this one-of-a-kind festival puts a spotlight on the art of songwriting with intimate sets from an all-star line-up.
