The evening featured a performance by Billy Porter, star of this spring's highly anticipated new musical Kinky Boots. With a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper, and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots proves that sometimes the best way to fit in, is to stand out.

Yale Repertory Theatre presents Paul Giamatti in HAMLET by William Shakespeare, directed by James Bundy, at the University Theatre (222 York Street), March 15-April 13. Opening Night is Thursday, March 21, at 7:30PM.

In The Red announces the re-release of the self-titled album by Ty Segall's Traditional Fools. The Traditional Fools were a garage-punk-thrash-surf trio consisting of Ty, Andrew Luttrell and David Fox. They recorded and released their lone album back in 2008 - it sold out quickly and has never been re-pressed until now.

Sundance Institute and KCRW previously announced that the LA public radio station will host three nights (January 18-20) of live musical performances at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Music Café and broadcast live from the Acura studio space in Park City, Utah today, January 19, and the 20th. This will mark the first-ever formal programming collaboration between the independent film festival and a radio station.

Dallas Theater Center welcomes North Texans into the studio of artist Mark Rothko in the Texas premiere of Tony Award-winning Red, directed by DTC associate artistic director Joel Ferrell. This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. This show also marks the first production-specific collaboration between DTC and the Dallas Museum of Art, which will provide patrons and visitors the opportunity to learn about the world of Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in special events about the work with both organizations. Red opens with preview performances on Thursday, February 7 and runs through Sunday, March 24 and is the first show ever to be performed on the 9th floor of the Wyly Theatre.

Connecticut always is home to some of the finest regional theater around and 2012 was no exception. The task of trying to pick the "best" has generated lots of discussion with a slew of productions vying for our attention since the calendar year actually covers parts of two different seasons.

Sundance Institute announced today 19 members of five juries awarding prizes at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Short Film Awards will be announced at a ceremony on January 22 at Park City's Jupiter Bowl, with feature film awards announced at a separate ceremony on January 26.
