Broadway to Dim Lights August 14 in Memory of Shirley Herz

The Broadway community mourns the loss of celebrated theatrical publicist Shirley Herz, who passed away on Sunday at age 87. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in her memory on Wednesday, August 14th, at exactly 8:00 p.m. for one minute.

Legendary Theatrical Publicist Shirley Herz Dies at 87

Shirley Herz, a legendary theatrical press agent, died on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. The cause was complications from a stroke suffered on July 18, said Sam Altman, a longtime friend.

Finborough Theatre to Present World Premiere of FISHSKIN TROUSERS, Begin. 9/3

The world premiere of multi-award-winning playwright Elizabeth Kuti's FISHSKIN TROUSERS will receive a four week run at the Finborough Theatre, opening on Tuesday, 3 September 2013. The production is complemented by the return of the FINBOROUGHFORUM, a series of events, discussions and debates, both on the play itself and the current state of new writing for the theatre in the UK, following every performance on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 9.00pm from 11 September 2013.

BRENDA Set for Fringe NYC at Robert Moss Theater, Begin. 8/13

BRENDA, a supernatural road-trip play written by EST Youngblood member and Yale graduate Cory Finley, will receive its world premiere in the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival. Performances begin August 13 at the Robert Moss Theater at 440 Studios.

Producers Daryl Roth and Eva Price announced today that Patrick Page, Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins, Chike Johnson, and Ashley Williams plus Dashiell Eaves, J.R. Horne, John Procaccino, Tijuana Ricks, and Lee Sellarswill join the previously announced Sebastian Arcelus, Fred Dalton Thompson, and John Douglas Thompson in the new Broadway courtroom drama A Time to Kill, Tony Award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes' stage adaptation of John Grisham's best-selling novel. This new Broadway play holds the distinction of being the first-ever John Grisham property to be adapted for the stage. A Time to Kill is set to open on Broadway on October 20, 2013 at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Previews begin September 28th. Ethan McSweeny will direct. Tony Winner Pam MacKinnon to Helm Tracy Letts' KILLER JOE on Broadway in 2014

Producers of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Revival, are pleased to announce that Tracy Letts' Killer Joe will be heading to Broadway for the first time. The Broadway premiere of Killer Joe will reunite Pam MacKinnon, winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Director of a Play (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and Tracy Letts, winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Actor (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?). The production is slated to hit Broadway in 2014.

Due to overwhelming demand, the Barrymore Theatre box office (243 West 47th Street) will open early, for one week only, on Monday, July 29 at 10:00 am through Sunday, August 4 at 6:00 pm, for tickets to Harold Pinter's BETRAYAL, starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Rafe Spall, and directed by ten-time Tony Award-winner Mike Nichols.
